For the Citizens of NYC

When I first started this beauty blog, I wanted to talk about all things beautiful. Not just product reviews and launch events, but the beauty of everything. This post is all about my beautiful morning…

Today’s train ride started off with the usual tango-to-get-a-seat contest, which of course – I won. I sat down next to a young lady who appeared to be sleeping, as her shut eyes revealed the LONGEST natural eyelashes I’ve ever seen in my life. (I can spot a set of falsies a mile away, and these were definitely the real thing.) Seriously, her lashes were so long that she inspired me to whip out my trusty tube of mascara (that never leaves my purse I might add,) and start applying. In the midst of lacing my lashes, the sleeping lady sitting next to me suddenly went into convulsions, which quite frankly scared the shit out of me. I’ve never seen that happen before! She abruptly stopped, and hit her head (very hard I might add) against the window. Immediately, the commuters in our subway car all went to her aid. Everyone stopped reading their newspapers, checking their Blackberry’s, chugging their Starbucks, applying their mascara (i.e., me) – everyone was so compassionate about her well-being. We were quick about it – no second guessing, no idling in our seats, hoping someone else would attend to her… everyone literally scrambled to make sure she was ok. Bear in mind, when I first moved to NYC four years ago, I came here with the notion that all Manhattanites were freakishly brazen and self-obsessed (especially at 9am), but my 10-minute commute downtown on the 6 train this morning proved otherwise. BTW – we got her off the train and into the care of trained professionals.

Citizens of NYC – especially those who were on the 6 with me this morning, I dedicate this post to you. Thank you for being overly empathetic to an ailing passenger and revealing your inner beauty to me. I’ll never look at you the same.

loud-lash.jpgOh yeah, the trusty tube of mascara in my bag is M.A.C. Loud Lash, which is a part of the Barbie Loves M.A.C. Collection. Gotta love it! Now, my lashes look just as long as hers.

Toodles! Stay beautiful New York City!
