ICYDK, Creative Nail Design runs fashion week when it comes to nails. Not just in NYC, but also London, Paris, Sydney, and even Dubai! I had a chance to chat up Roxanne Valinoti, Lead Nail Stylist for CND. Here’s what she’s reporting are the nail trends for Fall 2007:
Shades of Grey
“For Giles Deacon our UK team customized this cream charcoal grey by mixing Black “voodoo” enamel, and white “cream puff” enamel together. This trend is a favorite for fall, because nails stay dark, sleek and rich like fine knits and cashmere, but not black and ‘goth’.”
Au Natural
“Going natural doesn’t have to be bare. Grooming matters most, paying attention to detail , like clean cuticles and smooth edges. The newest neutral can be customized to match the skin tone. Serenity is a popular color because its warm nude tone has a bit of coverage. My favorite bare essential is a coat of Ridge Out base coat with one coat of Serenity and one coat of Air Dry.”
Red, Red, Red
“Red is the ultimate classic nail. Finding the right shade of red is the trick to wearing it well. Cooler skin tones look best with a blue based red. Warmer skin tones wear orange reds better. This schock of color on the nails is a classic tell tale sign of feminism. Make sure it’s never chipped and always shiny.”
“Wearing deep velvet purples, like Rock Royalty is similar to the dark trend we saw last fall, but again much more regal, rich and pigmented. It’s a sophisticated way to wear a darker color.”
Gold Rush
“Metallics have been strong in nail enamels, for the past few seasons and will continue throughout fall. However, this season’s metallics are infused with black and copper so they are deeper and more wearable. Try a metallic instead of a white tip for a French manicure.”

Beautiful Photos. Another great color is Boca Rattaned from Essie. It’s a great warm golden color. My summer standard is Pansy, and my winter standard is Boca Rattaned.

Hey! I’ve never worn gray, but it looks crazy chic here, so I’m definitely into that and purple this season.
