So right before the show began, an apologetic publicist informed me that make-up artist Bobbi Brown could not make our interview slot as she had to run at short notice. What could be more important than talking to me? An intimate dinner at Bon Jovi’s New Jersey home for Barack Obama. Hmmm… Ok then, fair enough. Instead, I spoke with her right hand man, John Hernandez, who had worked on models like Chanel Iman for the show to create a “ballerina sparkle look for the show”. He told me that, to complement the ethereal clothes from Fetherston’s show, his girls would be: “Shimmering with lavender eyes, violet gel liner and lashings of black mascara.” Extra shimmer was given to the cheeks with both Bobbi Brown product “glitz” and a bronzer to define the cheekbones.”
Also backstage was a stylish Roisin Murphy, who had followed the theme of the evening in a sequinned dress, and new Nylon TV presenter (and British tabloid regular) Peaches Geldof who shunned doing any actual camera work for huddling in the corner with her new husband, Max Drummey.
After having a quick word with Erin herself about the inspirations behind the collection: “A fantasy world, inspired by my daydreaming while looking up to the clouds”, I popped out to the front to take my seat for the show of clothes that take you to the clouds – literally.
xx, Ally Pyle
