Backstage Beauty: Anna Sui
By INDIA-JEWEL JACKSON 09.15.2008 imt
Backstage before the show was crazy. But of course a good crazy. The theme for Anna Sui’s spring 2009 collection: Italian/Spanish. Imagine the pieces that were there! Amazing! The models (I was able to see Aggy and Lily D, so excited!) were doing their run-throughs, amidst getting their look perfected, but as always, there was time to talk with the masters behind it all. I joined renowned makeup artist Pat McGrath backstage to discuss, step by step, how she created the look for the show: Using a little sheer stain on the mouth, they did white eyeliner in the eye, a little brown around the eyes, shimmer on the outside, and lots of bronzy blush on the cheeks, adding red to the lips. (in which she began to laugh, telling one of the other reporters, who was wearing the red on her lips, that she was stealing the look before it got out on the show!) “It’s going to be fantastic!” she exclaimed. “They look healthy, like they just stepped out of the sun, healthy and sunny.” What a great look for spring! Also on hand was hairstylist Garren, (yes, THE Garren who just cut Victoria B’s new short hair!) The hairstyle was simple for the catwalk – natural waves, a 60s feel, bringing out the organic textures of the hair. Parted in the center, Garren used a double-barrel weaving iron to create the soft waves as well as his very own product, the “Designing Spray Tonic,” which gave the hair memory. And what trend is Garren liking for spring you may ask: Short hair of course! xx, Erin Dustin Technorati Tags: Glam Media, Glam.com, Glam Blush, GlamBlush, Beauty, Backstage Beauty: Anna Sui Glam Editor BlogsLatest Posts |
