I’ve often wondered why Beyoncé’s armpits have always looked so… flawless.
I’ve never seen her snapped with a patch of underarm hair on accident, let alone a single razor bump. At first, I thought she may be a fan of chemical depilatories, and then it dawned on me (just like it happens in the movies)… Beyoncé must be into laser hair removal. I must admit, I was a bit jealous. I want to toss my arms up like a sex kitten! I don’t want to worry about razor burn and ingrown hairs! I want the world to see my sexy pits too!
Unfortunately I’m not Beyoncé, and I wasn’t blessed with flawless underarms.
Let me explain. After years (YEARS!) of shaving with creams, gels, and even soap, I found that my unsightly underarm hair would never magically disappear as I’d hoped. I couldn’t even think about wearing a tank top without peering into the mirror to see how much hair was there. (If it fell in the peach-fuzz range, sometimes I’d still wear the shirt, I just wouldn’t dare toss my arms up Beyoncé style. See above pic.)
Quite frankly, being a beauty editor means being “on” at all times. Unkempt hair? Unacceptable. A face full of pimples? Unforgivable. Underarm stubble? Unimaginable.
Sigh. I’d be stuck shaving every other day, well into ripe old age.
Or so I thought.
I was introduced to Beam Laser Spa in Manhattan about a month ago, where I was assured that my ongoing battle with underarm hair was about to end, and I’d be declared the winner-hands down. I met with sisters Liza and Andréa Young, owners of Beam Laser Spa, who were more than happy to answer a few pressing questions.
Will this treatment work for me, as I’m an African-American woman with a mocha/cocoa-color skin tone? Yes.
How much does it hurt? A little? A lot? Barely.
How many treatments does it take to finish the job? Six for most, maybe one or two more depending on the person.
Sounded good to me. I was all in…
I’m happy to report that after only ONE painless five minute treatment, I’m basically naked under the arms. I’ve got a bit of peach fuzz, but it isn’t noticeable to anyone other than me. The tiny bit of hair that is there is SO thin.
Only two weeks until my second treatment, so I’ll update you more then. For now all I’ll say is, trash the razors-get like Beyoncé-laser hair removal is the best!
xx, India-Jewel Jackson

Nice discovery. But I think we can all agree, Beyonce displays her pitts far, far, far too often. There was a 6 month stint where it seemed like she had entered in to a contract stipulating she HAD to take every picture with at least one pitt exposed! lolol

Recently she has stopped exposing her armpits. She should expose her armpits more.

Is laser hair removal too expensive?
India-Jewel | 26-Nov-08 at 11:44 am | Permalink
It isn’t expensive compared to life-long hair removal practices. Imagine how much you shell out each year for bikini waxes, or how much you spend on razors and depilatory creams!

I am going to Beam (although I don’t throw my pitts up all the time but I am going to my third session next week and haven’t had hair in awhile) and it’s nice knowing that you don’t have to worry about shaving! You can also reach out to Beam to find out questions you may have, they are on Twitter @BeamSpa!

You talk about how flawless Beyonce’s armpits are, but you’ve forgotten that no one is flawless. You should see her armpits for the Cadillac Records movie premiere. She does have hair. i wished that i didn’t have the little hair that grows under my arms, but it’s life and if God didn’t have a purpose for it being there, he wouldn’t have put hair in that area. That hair is there for a purpose. And why would you want to show off that part of your body anyway? Are you going to walk around all day with your arms raised? I understand if you are wearing a sleeveless shirt or topless dress, but other than that there’s no need to show your armpits off!!!

I guess whatever the celebrities do these days, poor people break their pockets or even go to extent of debt to look like some rich, spoiled scum of the earth. Be like Jesus and not a celebrity.

Oh and one more thing, have you ever heard of photoshop? because all the flaws you don’t see in the celebrities has been removed using photoshop.

I love Beyonce’s pits!! I’ve loved them since she was starting with Destiny’s child. They are her money makers. The more she shows them, the harder I get.
