Get the Look: Taylor Swift at the 2012 American Music Awards

Taylor Swift sparkled on the red carpet at the American Music Awards where she took the stage twice, but it was her smoldering smoky eye that we truly loved. We turned to her makeup artist Lorrie Turk, to get the how-to on snagging the look for ourselves, who revealed the crossover star was inspired by her Zuhair Murad dress. “She wanted a high-impact look, and we needed one that could also be easily altered to go into her performance look,” Turk said.

To begin, she lightly buffed CoverGirl NatureLuxe Silk Foundation with a synthetic foundation brush and only powdered through the center of the face for a dewy finish. She then brushed on TruBlend Minerals Blush in True Romance to a touch of color and shimmer. Next she dabbed on Intense Shadow Blast in Brown Bling with her finger for a base. Then she used a regular eyeshadow brush to apply the Eye Enhancers 1-kit in Brown Smolder from the lash line to just beneath the brow bone and lower lash line. She then lined both upper and lower lashes heavily with the Liquidline Blast Eyeliner in Black Fire before blending up and out for added smoke. For lush lashes, she added several coats to the LashBlast Clump Crusher mascara in Very Black. For the perfect pout to finish everything off, she applied the NatureLuxe Gloss Balm in Grenache directly from the tube.
