Backstage with the Hair Team at the Gorgeous and Green Gala

We stopped by Global Green USA’s 8th Annual Gorgeous and Green San Francisco Benefit to chat backstage with the Pureology hair team as they styled hair for the benefit’s Eco-Chic fashion show. A longtime supporter of Global Green USA’s initiatives, Pureology was the perfect match for the benefit which celebrated the organization’s smart climate solutions. We’ve been big fans of Pureology for years now and were excited to chat with lead stylists Natasha Sunshine and Sherilynn Smart about the show’s looks (glam Hollywood-inspired waves), this season’s hottest hair trends, and caring for your color.

Q:	What are the benefits of eco friendly products for your hair as opposed to the run of the mill shampoos and conditioners?
A:	Natasha: When you’re using eco friendly products you can feel confident that you’re contributing to your personal health, and the products are biodegradable so you’re contributing to the health of the planet. They’re really effective too, which is the great part. Sometimes you can be using a product that’s all natural or “green”, but you’re not getting the results that you want. Pureology always delivers on the results.
Q:	What’s the go-to ‘do for holiday season/winter-time?
A:	Natasha: Well the three of you are wearing topknots [laughs] so romantic waves and topknots are pretty big this year. Sherilynn: We’re calling what you’re going to see tonight “young Hollywood”, with loose waves and a chignon in the back.
Q:	Any trending hair colors for the season you’re seeing as of late?
A:	Natasha: It’s all about rich and lustrous colors right now. Deep reds, espresso browns, and chocolates. Sherilynn: Color has more intention to it now. Last season we were putting in bolder pieces and highlights, now when you see lighter colors they’re going to be accent pieces in your fringe or right in the front.
Q:	What’s the best advice you can give someone in terms of taking care of their hair color?
A:	Sherilynn: Make sure you’re always using a color safe conditioner. A lot of people with fine hair fear conditioner but Pureology will not weigh hair down and is taking care of your color all the time. And of course, every time you layer our styling products you get another layer of color protection. Natasha: Daily conditioner and a weekly hair mask. I always think of a weekly hair mask as a nice treat – your hair needs the extra nutrients. If you buy a cashmere sweater, you’re not going to throw it in your washing machine; you’d take it to the dry cleaner. You go the extra mile for our clothing, and we should do the same for our hair.
