MAC Celebrates the Year of the Snake

Though the Year of the Snake doesn’t officially start until next month, MAC is getting the party started a little early.

The beauty brand teamed up with photographer Chen Man on the visual campaign for the collection that was inspired by the Chinese calendar and the Tang dynasty that features rich colors, pearl finishes, and an embossed snake on pressed powders and lipsticks.

“I drew inspiration from the Chinese myth, The Legend of the White Snake, a very well know love story,” Man explained to Elle. “The model represents the lead character, and the tower in her hairpiece recalls the Tower of Thunder Mountain, in which she was trapped in the name of love.”

The slithering selections will only be available online in North America January 31st.
