Show Me the Mani: Nail Care Makes Bank in 2012

Talk about tips! It seems everyone is on the hunt give their nails some added oomph. From polishes, to gels, to nail wraps galore, the nailcare industry has become a $1.6 billion business. In 2012 women spent $768 million on polishes, a 32% bump from 2011, $25 million on gels with a 4% bump, but there was no number for nail wraps, which were everywhere last year, or salon services, according to Women’s Wear Daily. The publication noted that social media had in hand in pushing ladies to snap up a slew of shades with the start of the #manimonday hashtag on Instagram and Twitter and blogs dedicated to crafting intricate nail designs. With all the innovations set for release this year, there are no signs of the market slowing down!
