Yearning For The Perfect Blowout like Gwyneth’s?

Do it yourself! Angie Whitener and Melissa Konishi from Perez Salon and Spa in Chevy Chase, MD share five fab tips on giving yourself a sexy salon-quality blowout in the comfort of your own home. Go for the modern blowout - long gone are the days of stiff, stick-straight hair; today’s straight looks have volume, texture, and movement when finished.

Five Steps to a Modern Blow-Dry:

1. After washing hair, towel dry to remove as much moisture as possible.
2. Apply appropriate styling products depending on desired result – to control frizz and add shine, work through a dime size amount of Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide. To build body and volume, comb Redken Gutz 10 volume spray foam through hair, including the root area.
3. Pre-dry hair using a paddle brush to reduce moisture and manipulate hair and seal cuticle.
4. To ensure control and ease, section hair around head using clips and blow-dry one section at a time pulling hair taunt in the brush. For smooth straight hair, direct airflow in the same direction as hair grows while pulling brush down to flatten cuticle and smooth natural hair pattern. When creating more texture and volume, use a larger round brush and wrap hair 2/3rds of the way around the brush while drying – this creates soft full curves in the hair strand.
5. To lock in the style and eliminate future frizz and flyaway’s, dry hair completely and finish with Redken Forceful 23 super strength finishing spray for maximum all day hold. For a more natural, separated look, work through Fabricate 3 heat-active texturizer.

Snake Venom on the Face? Seriously?

gwynethpaltrow-w.jpg
I heard a word about Ms. Gwyneth Paltrow… According to Page Six, Gwyneth uses a facial wrinkle cream from Ultra Lux 9 that counts snake venom as one of its pertinent ingredients.

My darling Gwyneth, you can have that one. Now I may be wrong here, but I’ve always been taught that all things ’snake’ are bad. And snake venom, very BAD. Deadly. But that’s just my humble opinion. (Who the hell asked me?)

peter-thomas-roth-un-wrinkl.jpgAnyway, while I’m not interested in participating or endorsing this beauty phenomenon, I must admit I was intrigued when I recently learned about the Un-Wrinkle Eye by Peter Thomas Roth.

This isn’t your average eye cream. One of its active ingredients is SYN®-AKE, a chemically produced version of Temple Viper venom. It blocks muscular contractions, which keep wrinkles and fine lines at bay. Perfect for those with early signs of aging, it also firms and brightens the eye area, as well as boosts collagen reproduction.

Sounds good enough to me.

Note to Gwyneth: Make a Sephora run. Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Eye may be a safer alternative to preserving your youth.
