Go Deep…

… if you’re going to wear a side part in your hair. Whether you’re sweeping your hair off of your face completely like Katie Holmes, or just tucking a piece behind your ear like Jessica Simpson, the trick to perfecting this look is to part your hair all the way to the crown. The deeper the side-part, the better!

Want their well-coiffed look?

Straighten your hair from root-to-tip with the Metropolis Technology Mini Wireless Iron, $149.95. The heat from the straightening iron will instantly set your side part, plus it’s portable, so you can keep it in your purse for on the go touch ups!

For added shine and hold, use göt2b smooth operator Smoothing Lustre Lotion, $7.99 and Smoothing Hairspray,$7.99. This duo will keep your hair shiny, touchable and in place!

Visit göt2b and Metropolis Technology online for more deets.

Rita Hazan: 10 Rules for Being a Blonde

Jessica Simpson Kate Moss

10. Have confidence! Blondes are always noticed more!

9. Maintain your color; you should never have roots.

8. Always have dimension and contrast; otherwise it looks too bleached and unnatural - like a bottled blonde.

7. To nourish your hair and keep it in top shape, you should do a conditioning treatment 1-2 times a week.

6. Make sure your makeup is subtle, like your hair color. A paler shade is more flattering than dark, harsh makeup.

5. If you find yourself highlighting your hair every 6 weeks, it’s time for a single process. Too much bleach is not good for the hair!

4. NO frosting! White highlights on dark hair is never good.

3. When highlighting hair, don’t use a cap! There’s better technology and tools out there today that produce much better results.

2. Use shampoo and conditioner for dry/damaged hair.

1. Get your hair trimmed frequently, every 4-6 weeks. Keeping your hair healthy is very important, especially with blondes because it takes a beating for all the bleach, flatirons and blowdrys!

Hair Coloring 101: Single vs. Double Process

single-double-process.jpg

Hi BJ! I had to ask the same question a few years ago… I didn’t know the difference either! Here’s Rita Hazan’s response…

A single process is either permanent or semi-permanent color that alters your natural hair color either darker or lighter. This is just one-dimensional color, meaning your whole head of hair will be the same. For example, I only do a single process on Debra Messing. There are no highlights, so it is very one-dimensional.Debra Messing

A double process is a single process plus highlights. So you color your hair one shade and then add highlights to give it a multi-dimensional look, like Jessica Simpson. For most people this helps it look more natural. She colors her natural hair to a golden blonde and highlights on top of it with baby blonde highlights for a more natural blonde affect.Jessica Simpson Have questions for Rita Hazan? 2007: The Year in Hair

Now that 2007 is officially over, let’s take a quick look back at some of the most magnificent manes that made headlines last year. BeautyRiot.com, one of my favorite celebrity beauty websites, has compiled a list of the top 20 hairstyles of last year:

Celebrity Hairstyles

My favorites are #1, #3, #5, #9, #14, #15, and #20. Nicole Richie’s look was so sleek. Jessica Simpson’s long bob was shoulder-sweepingly sexy. Jennifer Aniston’s curls are always flawless. I love Hilary Duff as a smoldering brunette. Rihanna’s jet black angled bob was simply glorious. Drew Barrymore’s poofy pinup worked perfectly with her face. And Jessica Biel looked so womanly with a head full of voluminous curls.

Which of these styles did you fall in love with, and why?

The Many Looks of Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson is just a gorgeous now as a brunette as she was in 1999 when she was a blonde. A budding relationship + a world tour with new beau John Mayer has certainly fared well for the former Newlywed starlet. Things are starting to look up JessicaNick Lachey who? Hahahaha – see her change over the years.
