Alesha Renee + Michael Antonio = One Fun Afternoon!

In an effort to fuse fashion with fame, I caught up with the always-adorable Alesha Renee (actress/VJ on BET) at the beyond-glamorous shoe showroom of Michael Antonio.

Alesha Renee

The 24 year-old Houston, Texas native was in seventh heaven as she shoe-shopped and chit-chatted about her personal style, her beauty picks, and her newfound fetish for Michael Antonio shoes.

GlamBlush: Such. Fabulous. Shoes! You have to tell me which ones are your favorite and why.
Michael Antonio
Alesha Renee: The Sycamore by Michael Antonio - I liked it because I like the detail in it; the rich red and the chocolate brown, and I love the heel as well. It’s a nice night shoe for when you’re going out in your tight jeans… that shoe really pops your look. The All Spice by Michael Antonio - You can never have enough gold shoes in your closet, period. And it’s not your typical gold shoe, and I like that. And I LOVE the fact that its not real animal print, so PETA won’t come after me. I don’t want any problems with PETA! The Frenzy by Michael Antonio - It’s a real sexy boot… it’s for the girl whose likes to be sweet, but has a little dark side. This dominatrix boot is a little fun.

GlamBlush: How would you describe your personal style?
Alesha Renee: My personal style is definitely young, fresh, and funky. I like to do things different. Like today I have on dominatrix boots and rocker accessories… I like to have fun. Fashion is like one of the ways that we express our personality, so I like to experiment.

GlamBlush: Is there anything in your closet that you’ll never ever get rid of?
Alesha Renee: I have these XXL sweatpants that my stylist tried his hardest to get rid of and that wasn’t gonna happen. I have a lot of oversized t-shirts– I like to feel comfortable whenever I’m at home because whenever I’m out I have to maintain a certain (fashionable) façade. I have a pair of old faithful jeans as well, my Armani stretch jeans; I feel sexy in those.

GlamBlush: Who are your celebrity style icons from today or from yesteryear?
Alesha Renee:I love Dorothy Dandridge. I love Halle Berry because she’s very reminiscent of Dorothy Dandridge. I loved Aaliyah; she was definitely one of the women that I really (relate to), cause I’m just a tomboy as well, so I love the way she was very street (with) sexiness and class. Unfortunately her life was cut short; she was at a point where she was really burgeoning as a young woman and beginning to embrace her sexy; I’m kind of at that point as well. And Alicia Keys, she’s really doing it these days.

GlamBlush: What are some of your favorite makeup brands?
Alesha Renee: Dior show mascara; I do not leave home without it, MAC kohl eyeliner, and N.Y.C. blush in 5th Avenue. Those three things, you will not catch me leaving home without them.

GlamBlush: So where are your favorite places to vacation?
Alesha Renee: I’m actually getting ready to go to the Bahamas in a few weeks, and then I’m going to Tahiti so I’m really excited about that.

GlamBlush: When it comes to perfumes, where do your loyalties lie, are you more of a floral girl or oriental?
Alesha Renee: I like sensual scents and vanilla. I have found that vanilla is a aphrodisiac. Ladies, do put on some vanilla when you are leaving the house; you will thank me later. I like Armani code, that’s a nice night sensual perfume. During the day, Yves St. Laurent Cinema is a really good one.

GlamBlush: So lip-gloss, lip balm, or lipstick and why?
Alesha Renee: I like to put on lip balm because it’s a good conditioner. I have an all natural one for with shea butter and vitamin e. so they don’t get chapped. Then I like to put on a nice gloss with a hint of color.

GlamBlush: I’m loving the sassy, shaggy bangs–is this a new look?
Alesha Renee: This is a new look. Before I had curly light brown hair, but people kept (comparing) me to Beyoncé… not that anything’s wrong with that–I’m a big fan, but when you’re trying to build your own career… I just wanted people to say I look like Alesha Renee. To step out from that (comparison), we added bangs because they’re hot, sexy, and youthful. And I’ve been wearing it jet black. I’ve been getting a lot of (compliments), so I’ll probably wear it until the spring, and then change it, so be looking out for that!

There you have it GLAMonistas! If you happen to be strolling around the tents and see Miss Alesha Renee, do check out her fancy footwear - you may see her wearing her new fabulous Michael Antonio shoes!

A Quick Chit-Chat with Debbie Matenopoulos

debbiematenopoulos.jpg
Last week I stopped by the Korres Flagship Store opening in SoHo (the first in the U.S.!), and I had a brief moment to chat with one of my favorite entertainment TV anchors, Ms. Debbie Matenopoulos. As you may have guessed, she’s a gorgeous Greek gal, and she stays that way by using Korres products. Here’s what she had to say (after a couple of glasses of bubbly!)

What connects you to the Korres brand?
First off, I’m Greek…obviously. With a name like Matenopoulos you’re not fooling anybody. And I came across it like 2 yrs ago in a store randomly in L.A. and I saw the writing; there’s Greek writing all over the box. And I went to Greek school. When you’re Greek, you’re Greek. When your family’s really Greek, they stuff the Greek thing down your throat. And I went to Greek school and Greek dance and the whole thing. So I came across it, saw the Greek writing, and bought it because either way it’s cool - look at the writing! I ended up falling in love with the product. About a month ago, I was contacted by one of the candidates for the product, and they were like “We’d love to give you some of our products, we know you’re Greek.” I used the entire box, the whole thing, in a month. Crazy—a little much. Then just a few weeks ago, I got a phone call and they’re like we’re opening our flagship store and I was so glad. I couldn’t find this product in the places I wanted to find it. For instance, they’re very selective; they have a store in Paris, they have a store in London, in Athens—obviously—a lot of stuff in Asia, but they didn’t have a store in the U.S. I was like “Are you kidding?! Sign. Me. Up.” Immediately; I’m not even passing go, I’m coming straight to NY, so you know, it started because I have love for my peeps and because I’m so loyal to my country, but at the same time it’s a really good product; I get sent so much crap everyday. When you have a TV show, you have a magazine, you know. And I have to tell you I’m allergic to everything, this I’m not allergic to. All the bath products smell amazing, they look amazing. I grew up in a hair salon, so I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to shampoo, I gotta be honest, and I’m even more of a snob when it comes to conditioner, because I feel like people really cheapen their conditioners; their conditioner makes your hair like silk, and they conditioned the hell out of this wig. Trust me, my hair feels like straw till I put that conditioner on, then it feels good. But I’m just a big fan of it; I’m a big fan of what they stand for. You know, it’s all the natural products; it comes from the first homeopathic pharmacy in Greece! Do you know how this actually happened, how it started?

No, please tell me.
He’s (George Korres) a chemist and his wife (Lena Korres) is a biochemist, and six scientists got together and they have a homeopathic pharmacy where they were making creams and stuff, for people’s bodies; the 24hr Korres cream. It is the best shit you can put on your face. I love it. I’m not kidding, anyway; so they got together, so people were starting to say (because it was like a prescription for people), “Why don’t you give us your cream and we’ll sell it in our stores?” and he’s like, “It’s just homeopathic stuff for people who have skin problems” but people loved it so much that other stores were coming to him in Greece and saying, “Why don’t you put packaging on it and we’ll sell it.” So he said “okay” and he started giving it to his friends and they were putting it in their stores and they were selling it very locally and before you know it, it became such a big deal and there was such a demand for it where they were basically forced to make a company because there was such a high demand and it started from cream. And to get six scientists together these days to make any sort of product…that doesn’t happen, you know what I mean? Like people are like I’m trying to get a buck. And I’m skeptical of creams that are brand new saying “This is going to change your life” and “tomorrow you’re going to look like Giselle” and they cost $700 of course, and I’m like “Really? Okay.” The thing with their product line is there’s nothing over $40. It’s affordable, and when I started working with them, I found out that a lot of the silicone and mineral oil they put in makeup is cheap, but you can go down the line in Neiman Marcus or Barney’s or any of those places and those products cost a lot of money. I said to them “Why doesn’t everyone use this; why don’t they put that in instead of mineral oil? And why don’t they put that in instead of silicone? And they said because it’s expensive. and I was like “Well it can’t be that expensive, you’re selling your most expensive product for only $40” and their like “Exactly.” So I’m all for a product that’s good, that works, that’s honest. It’s no thrill. They’re not trying to sell you the sun, the moon, the stars. They’re saying this is what it is. The truth is, it doesn’t have to be expensive to be good. My mom always said growing up olive oil and water was the best thing to put on your face and I used to tell her she was insane. All these Korres products—olive oil and water. My mom used to tell me—I used to get sunburned and greased—put Greek yogurt on your face or put Greek yogurt on your arms. There’s a Greek yogurt cooling mask, which is by the way amazing, to this day I still use Greek yogurt; I go buy real Greek yogurt if I’m burned—it works!

Where were you raised?
Between Greece and Virginia and I moved to NY when I was 16, but pretty much every summer I was in Greece, regardless. I was raised in Richmond, VA and went every summer to Greece and I moved here to go to NYU and then just moved to LA.

What are you 5 must-have Korres products? What can you not live without?
~The 24 hr wild rose cream is amazing, it’s not too heavy, some creams are heavy and they clog the hell out of your pores. If you have young skin, I mean it’s not like we’re grandmas. I’m like “I can’t put this on my face!” Their cream, 24-hr wild rose cream, I looove that. It smells good, too.
~I love their almond scrub; that’s amazing.
~Their correction pen. Because I have a zit here, as you can see and I tend to suffer from adult acne from time to time, so I use their correction pen, which is olive oil. It’s amazing, I love it.
~And their guava body butter is SO amazing. When I say body butter, when you then go out you can’t stop touching yourself. Trust me, I was having way too much fun with myself when I put the body butter on. The guava body butter is amazing.
~The vanilla cinnamon body milk.. I LOVE.
~ I also love the yogurt cooling mask. Because my skin is always messed up from the makeup they put on, so I get a lot of burning…and it takes the hot out; that I love really love.
~Oh, the fig body wash. Half the things double as food. That’s the best thing about Korres. While your bathing and while you’re putting all the products on your face, you suddenly feel full! That’s what I’m saying, it’s like eating great food without adding any weight to your ass.

Haute Hair Tips from Celebrity Stylist Steve Lococo

I had a pleasure of chatting with Steve Lococo recently – here’s the lowdown.

Who: Steve Lococo, the California-based celebrity hairstylist and Co-Owner and Style Director of Borrelli Salons (Borrelli Beverly Hills and B2V/Borrelli-Vo)
steve-head-shot.jpg
Why (you should know about him): He’s styled the locks of Kirsten Dunst, Reba McIntyre, Nicky Hilton, Jenny McCarthy, Clay Aiken, Halle Berry, Cher, Anna Nicole Smith, Diana Ross, Cher, Anjelica Huston, and Liv Tyler. He’s also worked on the set of That 70’s Show and Two and a Half Men. He’s also appeared on several makeover shows, including Extreme Makeover & Dr. 90210, as well as Dr. Phil, The Tyra Banks Show, and Good Day LA.

GlamBlush: Whose hair would you love to style?
Steve Lococo:
Lindsay Lohan needs to redo her hair. She needs a big makeover. Love to get a hold of Felicity Huffman. Her attitude exhumes a lot of lustfulness behind her look. I wanna get in there and unlock it; her hair should be wild and mysterious. Sienna Miller, just to loosen her up. Eva Longoria – her look can be calmed down. I want to give them the most they’ll allow me to give. I put the person on the next level of a great cut and color.

GlamBlush: Can you predict any new hair trends?
Steve Lococo:
I see the trend moving away from straight hair. I see movement and lots of cutting…

GlamBlush: So summer’s finally over – now’s the time to repair damaged beach hair. For future reference, how can someone can best care for their hair during the summer?
Steve Lococo:
You can do this at home. Use your favorite conditioner and mix it with water in a spray bottle and apply. Let it dry naturally; since they’ve already used it in the shower, it’ll adhere even stronger. They can take it to the beach or the pool with them. After they’re back, they can use a clarifying shampoo to wash through the hair so it’ll strip natural properties, suntan oil, chlorine, sand, etc…

GlamBlush: Great! Any other tips?
Steve Lococo:
Suntan oil helps lighten hair, so don’t use it on hair!

Candid Shots at the Emmys + an Exclusive Q&A with Napoleon Perdis

Australian makeup guru Napoleon Perdis has infiltrated Hollywood in the best way imaginable… as the official makeup sponsor of the 2007 Emmys, he was able to rub elbows on the red carpet with television’s elite, as well as touch-up their faces before/after presenting or winning an award.
napoleon-and-debra.jpg
I had a chance to chat with Napoleon after the madness died down. Here’s what he had to share about this experience:

GlamBlush: Live on the red carpet with oodles and oodles of celebrities – so exciting! How was the experience for you?
Napoleon Perdis: Surreal, gigantic, glamorous, and sexy. In Hollywood, you’re next door to everyone. There was Pat (Field), Al Gore, Kevin Bacon, Charlie Sheen, there was Patricia Arquette… it was enormous.

GlamBlush: Who were you most excited to see?
Napoleon Perdis:
Love Debra Messing. I did her makeup from start to finish on Friday night for an event, and I was really excited to see her again on the red carpet. Love her entire look and the red color hair with the black & white dress. Backstage, Sally Field – she’s a legend. America (Ferrera) is everyone’s girlfriend, very down to earth, respectful, and easy to work with.
napoleon-perdis-emmys.jpg

GlamBlush: As the makeup sponsor, what was your exact role for the Emmys?
Napoleon Perdis:
Before presenters went out on stage, I got the celebs ready and touched up their faces. It was very hot in CA, so there were many touch-ups. Once the winners won (their awards), they went into the press tent (for photos and interviews) and I did touch-ups there as well.

GlamBlush: What products were used most for touch-ups?
Napoleon Perdis:
Camera finish, long black mascara, pore minimizer & mattifier, gloss patrol, and a few other things.
napoleon-perdis-emmy-produc.jpg
GlamBlush: What’s up next for you?
Napoleon Perdis:
Resting, then coming back to NYC, I have a few commitments in Toronto as well… I have a few stores in NYC that will be opening up very soon, then headed back to Australia… we’re shooting the campaign for Australia’s Next Top Model, I’m also shooting a few HSN 5 hour segments. I’m basically busy till the end of the year.

Exclusive Q&A: P. Diddy

P. Diddy has a very interesting affect on women. When I sat down with him earlier today, by the time we’d finished our little chat, I’d fallen deep in like with him. He’s intriguing and captivating… you can just tell that he KNOWS women. He knows what to say, and he knows how to speak. No wonder he’s just released the perfect women’s fragrance, Unforgivable. It’s available at Macy’s right now – I suggest you pick it up and see what types of ‘unforgivable’ things you get yourself into while wearing this scent…
pdiddy.jpg
GlamBlush: Hi!
Diddy: Hey what’s up – you smell like Unforgivable.

GlamBlush: Of course – it’s only befitting that I wear your new fragrance while I chat with you.
Diddy: That’s what’s up!

GlamBlush: Oh also, before we begin – I just wanted to let you know that I’m a Howard University alumni as well, and we have the same birthday!
Diddy: November 4th? Oh, you know what time it is – you know we (Scorpios) rule the world!

GlamBlush: Of course! Down to business. Congrats on winning a FiFi award for Unforgivable Men! Were you expecting to win?
Diddy:
It was incredible. I knew there was a chance that we could win because we had outsold and out-marketed everybody, and we really felt like it was our year. But to hear them call the name after they said the (other) nominees, like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, that was incredible.

GlamBlush: Have you always known that you’d like to release a women’s fragrance as well, or was it only after the success of the male counterpart of Unforgivable?
Diddy:
Well I always wanted to, but since it started as a male brand, we didn’t know if it would be able to translate into a women’s fragrance. The women started wearing Unforgivable Men and we got an overwhelming response. They started calling & hitting us online saying we want the women’s version so I went in and created it. And it came out great; it really is the counterpart, the partner to the men’s fragrance in the sense that it’s understated, it’s clean, sensual, seductive, and it’s a scent that you’ll remember. It’s really not flowery like your grandmother’s perfume.

GlamBlush: So why the name Unforgivable? What does that mean to you?
Diddy:
Unforgivable is a positive thing – it’s really about your belief in yourself. Being unapologetic and having that confidence in yourself; being a leader. If you’re not apologizing, then people can’t forgive you. If you believe in who you are, even if you’re different, that makes you ‘unforgivable.’ It’s your swagger. It’s your confidence. It’s your attitude.

GlamBlush: So, the commercial. It’s such a risqué ad, like an illicit affair. Who’s your gorgeous curvy co-star?
Diddy:
Her name is Jessica Gomes – she’s a model that I handpicked. We had very good chemistry and we really enjoyed shooting it. It was really about telling that story. It’s not just a thing that happens to famous people – you could be a writer, a mailman, a hairdresser – you could meet somebody somewhere and things just speed up… the passion is intense and everything happens that one night. Ya’ll meet, ya’ll make love, you tell her you love her, you tell him you love him – it’s the passion that is so overwhelming, and that’s what the ad is about. It’s about when the passion takes over you. And it’s the fragrance that she wears, most likely I don’t see her again… you’re not from this place where we’re at. It’s not just a tacky one-night stand. It just so happens that we don’t live in the same place, but I’ll always remember the way she smelled. That’s what the fragrance is. That’s the part it plays in the ad.

GlamBlush: So why did you choose to release your fragrances through Estée Lauder and MAC? Are you really close with John Dempsey (Editor’s note: the President of MAC)?
Diddy:
You know, Estée Lauder is number one. If I was a baseball player I’d want to play with the Yankees. To be with Estée Lauder really helped to legitimize my brand as a lifestyle brand. They believe in me, they play to win, they’re the best. I thought it was the perfect combination; they saw the future. It was a couple of meeting, but to be honest, they got it, and I think the proof is in the results.

GlamBlush: Were you hands-on with the entire concept – from the beautiful blush bottle to the actual scent itself? Were you there from step one?
Diddy:
Yes. This is not a celebrity brand(ing). I pride myself in being a true designer. I won the men’s designer of the year award (Editor’s note: 2004 CFDA); even though I’m a celebrity and it can help me, I take pride in designing the fragrance. You know, sitting there in the fragrance house, going through the tedious process of putting together the fragrance, note by note, and designing the bottle. And it’s a team; I just don’t do everything by myself. There’s a great team. I’m involved in the process as the designer and the person that gives the creative direction… to even the ad, which we didn’t know was going to get banned from TV. Thank God there’s the internet! People want to see the unedited version – we did a three-minute version – it’s on my Myspace page and on Diddy.com. You’ll see the whole thing. Even with the concept of that, the concept of our ads and our marketing is intimacy, and passion, and sexuality, and sex in a very interesting way. That’s our concept. Armani does it different, Ralph does it different, and we feel this is what we do best in a very modern way. I’m hands on with all of that.

GlamBlush: Speaking of the internet, there are certain websites and blogs that are basically “All Diddy, All the Time.” What are your views about that? Do you have certain blogs that you like…
Diddy:
I mean, I’ll be honest – I like ConcreteLoop because it’s black. As a black man, I like Perez (Hilton) too, but (ConcreteLoop isn’t) really not about the gossip. It’s more of like a fun approach to it, instead of trying to really hurt people, or being like serious news. When I see stuff (on there), and I see all the black people that have become successful and that are stars, you know, the high-fashion lifestyle that they’re living, you know we don’t really get a lot of play in a People or a Us Weekly or wherever. This is really for my community… I tap on(line) and you know I see all my people. They beat me up on there crazy though…but you know it’s all fun to me. They kill me on there, but you know… (laughing).

GlamBlush: What’s the sexiest body part that a woman can wear this fragrance?
Diddy:
All over her body. Where do you put your fragrance on at?

GlamBlush: I put it behind my ears and on my wrists. It lasts longer there.
Diddy: Hmmm – so your thing is, you like it to last longer… oh, ok.

GlamBlush: What’s the ultimate aphrodisiac for you?
Diddy:
I would have to say strawberries and whip cream for me. It just gets me all the way in the mood. That and some Ciroc vodka. There’s some vodka out there called Ciroc and I’m talking about it is an APHRODISIAC for real, you know. (Singing) It gets you in the mood… Ciroc and some Unforgivable, you on and cracking baby.

GlamBlush: What do you want for Christmas?
Diddy:
Man – I just want to look at all my kids and I just want to chill out, I’m good. I just want to see all of them. That’s really my most successful project, these kids – let me show you something real quick… (Editor’s note: Diddy scrolls through his Blackberry to show me pictures of his infant twin girls, Jesse James and D’Lila Star.) I thought I was bad before, but that right there… like come on man, what else ya’ll want me to do? Ya’ll want me to run a marathon, star on Broadway, put out a woman’s fragrance, and make beautiful twins, I mean come on. What do I gotta do to impress ya’ll? What else ya’ll want me to do? If ya’ll not impressed by these two beautiful queens then I don’t know. If ya’ll still questioning my get-down after this, it can be no more hate. Ya’ll better leave that man alone, he’s blessed. He’s rocking with God, man. I mean, come on. It’s clear.

Haven’t seen the racy ad yet? I’ve got it for you…

Exclusive Q&A: Kim Kardashian

By now I’m sure you know that Kim Kardashian took to the runway at the Heatherette show earlier this evening. While she was getting her makeup done, I had a chance to chat with the socialite about her fashion and beauty vices, and how she really feels about the public’s scrutiny of her.
kim-kardashian.jpg

GlamBlush: Who are you favorite designers to wear?
Kim Kardashian: Dolce & Gabanna & Roberto Cavalli.

GlamBlush: Who’s your favorite shoe designer?
Kim Kardashian: Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo. Those are my two favorite. I am a designer shoe girl. It sounds like I’m such a brat, but it’s what I love to wear.

GlamBlush: What are you favorite makeup brands?
Kim Kardashian: MAC. I really wear MAC all day long. As for another lip gloss, it would be Nars in Turkish Delight. I love it.
kim-k-makeup.jpg
GlamBlush: Where’s your favorite place to vacation?
Kim Kardashian: If I’m madly in love, Bora Bora. If it’s just me and my girls, anywhere! Hawaii is so much fun, and I really love St. Tropez.

GlamBlush: What’s next for your career? Acting or music perhaps?
Kim Kardashian: Yes! I’m performing with the Pussycat Dolls this month in Vegas, I’m singing and dancing. I just did my first movie, Deep in the Valley, with Denise Richards, Steve Zahn and Tracy Morgan. Just a little cameo, nothing too big… I’m taking acting lessons, and I’m filming my reality show which will be on E!, it’s called Keeping Up With the Kardashians and it’s produced by Ryan Seacrest.

GlamBlush: Do you have any pets?
Kim Kardashian: No. My little sisters do. I travel so much, I don’t really think it would be fair to have pets. I like them, but I’m not the biggest animal person.

GlamBlush: So are you still a stylist?
Kim Kardashian: I do style here and there – definitely all the shoots my sisters and I are in. I really haven’t had time to style any other shoots lately. I’ve been doing a lot of personal shopping through my store Dash in Calabasas, CA. We’re actually launching the website in October!
kim-k-hair.jpg
GlamBlush: What do you want for Christmas?
Kim Kardashian: A white convertible Bentley. I’ve been saying that for the past three years and it hasn’t come. I think I might buy myself one for my birthday this year.

GlamBlush: When is your birthday?
Kim Kardashian: October 21st. I’m a Libra. I have a good vibe in October.

GlamBlush: How did you like being on the cover of King magazine? You made history!
Kim Kardashian: I really liked it! I was kind of hesistant about doing anymore men’s magazines, but you know what I thought, why not embrace it? I’m only young once – I do try to work out hard and I was very honored that they asked me to do it. I broke the color barrier and it’s something new for them, and I’m honored they chose me to make that stand. Everyone was great that I worked with. They were open to hear my side of the story. I just felt like I’d had enough of people labeling me and misjudging me when no one had met me. They go off with these stupid blogs and the things these people write… it’s funny, I get the humor in it all but I’m so not what people think… I have to stand up for myself. So I did, and I feel like I accomplished what I set out to do. I’m really happy with that.

GlamBlush: Is there a blog that you actually like?
Kim Kardashian: I think they’re really funny. I think Perez Hilton is hysterical. I actually love Bossip.com. At first they were making fun and jokes and whatever… I mean I get it, I get that it’s just fun and games and not to be taken too seriously. I love Hollyscoop. It’s three Armenian girls, and I’m Armenian. They’re so sweet. Those are the three that I love, and look at all the time.
kim-k-catwalk.jpg

GlamBlush: What’s on your iPod?
Kim Kardashian: Hmm… I just got the new Kanye West album, The Graduation. I love that.

GlamBlush: Do you think Kanye West got robbed again at the VMAs?
Kim Kardashian: Of course. I was there – I went down to the suite he was performing in to film (the reality show) and he was amazing. His fiancée made my dress that I wore that night. He’s so talented; he should be recognized a little bit more. And he will be through this album. I’m an R&B chick, so I have all of this old-school from like Tamia to Shanice. And I love pop, still Britney Spears and all of that.

GlamBlush: How do you feel about Britney’s VMA performance?
Kim Kardashian: I thought she looked great, but I haven’t watched it all yet. From what I heard it was a little bit in slow motion. I’m just anxious to go and see it. I want to try to catch it online and see it for myself. See what everyone is talking about. I was rushing – I couldn’t even Tivo it. I’m sure I can find it on Youtube.

GlamBlush: Lastly, what’s your all-time favorite movie?
Kim Kardashian: The Notebook. It’s so cute and I just cry every time I see it. It reminds me of my grandparents; they’re exactly like that. And I just hope I have love like that one day. Everlasting love.

Exclusive Q&A: Jenna Jameson

Jenna Jameson is more beautiful in person than she is on, well TV. A total girlie-girl, I had a chance to get to know a little bit more about Jenna’s fashion and beauty preferences during our brief chat right before the Marc Bouwer show…

Exclusive Q&A: Chudney Ross

Sometimes I feel like I see Chudney Ross everywhere. Fashion shows, red carpets, movie premieres… everywhere. You’d think the daughter of Diana Ross would be a double diva, but actually she’s one of the most genuine people I’ve ever encountered. Not fully content with just being a paparazzi magnet, Chudney Ross is definitely interested in carving out a substantial famous future of her own. Here’s what she had to share before the Marc Bouwer show…
chundeyross1.jpg
GlamBlush: Who are your favorite designers?
Chudney Ross: I like young hip designers, like this LA designer named Megan. I also adore Marc Bouwer.

GlamBlush: What’s your personal style?
Chudney Ross: I like to switch it up – sometimes I look girly, and sometimes I’ll wear something conservative like Ralph Lauren, and then some days I like to ‘rock it up.’

GlamBlush: What’s your favorite makeup brand?
Chudney Ross: MAC all the way. You know, my mom did that line for MAC and I actually still use it.

GlamBlush: Where’s your favorite place to vacation?
Chudney Ross: Anywhere warm with a beach! I just came back from Costa Rica and Bahamas this summer, and I love the islands. Plus I love skimpy clothes, so I’ve got to be somewhere hot, though not as hot as China. I just came back from there and the heat was insane.

GlamBlush: What are your favorite TV shows?
Chudney Ross: I’m addicted to TV. I love LOST and Grey’s Anatomy, but I also love Real World, Wife Swap, and Nanny 911.

GlamBlush: What’s on your iPod?
Chudney Ross: Anything I can dance to! My mom’s music of course, Britney Spears, anything cheesy, pop music, oldies, and Motown.

GlamBlush: Are you a pet person?
Chudney Ross: Yes! I have a dog named Peanut! He has an agent, but he doesn’t like being in front of the camera very much, so we haven’t been getting much work.

GlamBlush: Lastly, what’s next for you in your career?
Chudney Ross: Well I’m always writing, so I try to not be in front of my computer all the time. I’m trying to get an agent because I’d like to get into TV hosting; a fashion program would be great. I’d just like to be able to mix all of my loves together (TV, Fashion, Writing!)

Exclusive Q&A: Rachel Smith

I must admit, I didn’t know much about Rachel Smith, a.k.a. Miss USA before today. All I really remember is the unfortunate slip she took in the Miss Universe pageant. Luckily I had a chance to briefly chat with the Clarksville, Tennessee native right before the Marc Bouwer show…
rachel-smith.jpg
GlamBlush: Who are you favorite designers?
Rachel Smith: Marc Bouwer and Roberto Cavalli. I LOVE Cavalli! For shoes, I really like Guiseppe’s. You know, I’m really still learning more and more about fashion each day.

GlamBlush: What are your favorite makeup brands?
Rachel Smith: Definitely NARS and Laura Mercier.

GlamBlush: What’s next for you in your career?
Rachel Smith: I also just finished my first modeling campaign for YMI Jeans… I’ve really had an amazing year. I’d really love to pursue Journalism, since that’s what my degree is in.

GlamBlush: Really? What’s your favorite magazine?
Rachel Smith: O Magazine. Actually, I really like just picking up a good book.

GlamBlush: Lastly, you’ve traveled the globe for your position as Miss USA. Where’s your favorite place that you visited?
Rachel Smith: Ooh – I love everywhere I’ve been! But if I had to choose, I’d say Spain.

Exclusive Q&A with Mya!

mya_glamblush.jpg

GlamBlush: I’ve seen you everywhere today, in three different dresses! Do you live in NYC , or is your hotel nearby?
Mýa: No, I don’t live here, I’m in a hotel.
GlamBlush: Out of all of the shows you’ve seen this week, which was your favorite?
Mýa: Well I’ve seen Tracy Reese, Rag & Bone, as well as L.A.M.B. - L.A.M.B. was my favorite. Actually Tracy Reese really impressed me as well. I thought I’d see everyday attire, but her collection really had a lot of spice and colors. She did her thing.
GlamBlush: Have you ever thought about designing your own collection?
Mýa: Yeah, of course! I’m always sketching, always having a seamstress make something original. It would be a natural progression for me. I want to do it right and with the right people.
GlamBlush: So what are you wearing right now?
Mýa: Baby Phat, respectfully. With all designers that I have a relationship with, I’ll wear their clothes to their event. At Tracy Reese, I wore Tracy Reese. It’s just the respectful thing to do.
GlamBlush: So what have you been up to lately?
Mýa: I just wrapped up a summer program in DC; the kids just gave their finale performance on Saturday. They were dancing, stepping, poetry, all kinds of stuff. It was fun!
GlamBlush: What’s your favorite beauty look?
Mýa: Ooh, I love the dewy look. An ‘I-just-woke-up’ look. And I really like golds on my skin; it gives it a little bit of warmth. Any kind of shimmer or bronzer works for me, just…no powder. As for my eyes, I like to mix greens and purples; they really bring out my brown eyes.
GlamBlush: You have a beautiful smile! What do you do to maintain it?
Mýa: (Whispering) I had to wear braces for a year and a half to get them slightly corrected.
GlamBlush: What’s your favorite lip gloss?
Mýa: It’s called Lip Plump. It really plumps up the lips and it has a zesty mint flavor to it, so it keeps your breath fresh as well.
GlamBlush: What’s your favorite makeup brand overall? What do you jump for when you’re at the store?
Mýa: Well it’s not in Sephora; you have to get it at a department store. I really like Giorgio Armani silicon-based foundation. It’s the only one I’ll use. It will not dry out your skin – it really looks like you don’t have any foundation on. For the dewy look, Chanel Brilliance is what I’ll use. Sometimes all over my body, but it comes in a very small bottle so you have to buy a couple. As for mascaras, I usually stick to the generic Maybelline that you can buy at any store, and for my lips I like Blistex or Carmex for moisturization. Lots of makeup artists use it, so I just steal their tricks.
GlamBlush: For your mani/pedis, what’s your favorite color? Do you always wear black polish?
Mýa: No – it just depends on how I feel. We’re approaching fall so I thought this color was appropriate.
GlamBlush: What about your hair? How do you prefer to wear it? I’ve seen you with super straight hair, natural coils, roller-set curls… what’s your favorite look?
Mýa: I really like my hair curly, especially on days like this – in venues like this, it gets really hot and I don’t have to worry about it changing or shifting. Curly hair is just easier to maintain.
GlamBlush: Who are you favorite designers?
Mýa: For shoes? Giuseppe all the way! For stage attire, Dolce & Gabanna. For club wear, Heatherette. For everyday wear, Sass & Bide.
GlamBlush: Do you have a favorite jewelry designer?
Mýa: No. I really don’t wear diamonds anymore… I let that go.
GlamBlush: What’s your favorite vacation destination?
Mýa: Anywhere warm. Brazil is beautiful. The West Indies. I haven’t done to much vacationing in Europe or further East. My vacations are normally short. A week max.
GlamBlush: So do you live in DC full time?
Mýa: I don’t really spend too much there. I’m normally on the road traveling, or somewhere doing a project (movie). That is where I rehearse, where my band resides, that is where I “call” home, but I’m working when I’m there, my studio is there, my classes are there, and my family is there. That’s home for me!
GlamBlush: So what’s next for you in your career?
Mýa: The Liberation album will be released in fall of 07, and I’ll be shooting a movie in October; it’s called Bottle World with New Line Cinemas. I’m also heading to Vegas for the VMAs tomorrow morning!
