Three Creams that Control Cellulite

cellulite cream

Face it - goddesses of every shape and size get cellulite (thank you for proving that theory correct, Mischa), and whether or not you put your faith in those magic creams that keep thighs looking smooth and shapely, you can’t deny that summer is practically here. (Beaches, bathing suits, pools… need we say more?) If your backside needs some extra attention before you pull out that itty-bitty bikini, it could be time to try these new cellulite fighters. They might make a believer out of you after all.

Clarins Total Body Lift Stubborn Cellulite Control, $59.50
This lotion works to firm, refine, and tone your body. The cream – made from a combination of botanicals and caffeine, which improves the skin’s circulation – promises to remove fatty deposits, cellulite, and improve skin quality when you use it with Clarins’ self-massaging body contouring method. (No massage-therapy certificate required: the method is clearly explained in a pamphlet accompanying the cream!) The cream must be applied to the entire body and will only show results if used daily.

Estee Lauder Body Performance Anti-Cellulite Visible Contouring Serum, $52.20
This miracle potion contains FluidMotion technology which helps break down cellulite by regulating the flow of fluids within the skin. The use of Forskolin – a peptide which boosts collagen production and fills in areas where cellulite forms – sets it apart from many other cellulite creams, which only use caffeine. Beauty note - this specific serum should only be applied to areas that are prone to cellulite formation.

Shiseido Body Creator Aromatic Body Sculpting Concentrate - Anti-Cellulite, $63
Quite frankly, this incredibly rich cellulite-reducing cream smells like citrus heaven. (Seriously, it’s intoxicating!) Infused with grapefruit oil, caffeine, and Chai Hu, an herb known for its collagen reproduction abilities, when simply massaged into the affected area on a nightly basis, the end result is firm, contoured gams.

How to Beat Cellulite, Mischa

So… the hot topic on the web this week? Miss Mischa Barton and her very dimpled thighs.

Cellulite Mischa Barton

Pictured here on vacation in Sydney, Australia, I guess she proved the whole “skinny-girls-can’t get-cellulite” theory wrong!

We’re not looking at a photo of a size 16 woman here - she can’t be over a size 4! She’s in her early twenties, and it appears that her plight with cellulite is rather serious. Here’s hoping she can get that under control ASAP!

Mischa, may I?

Try Nivea’s Good-bye Cellulite Smoothing Cellulite Gel-Cream. Simply massage onto your thighs daily for two weeks, and your skin will become firmer… Keep using for two more weeks, and the signs of cellulite will be dramatically reduced.

If you’re losing your fight with cellulite (I didn’t mean to rhyme!), pick this up at your nearest Wal-Mart.

Bikini season is right around the corner…

Patrick Melville Styles the Stars

Patrick Melville, owner of the Patrick Melville Salon at Sports Club/LA, is no newbie to styling the celebrities and socialites, not to mention the Victoria’s Secret Angels. The former head-stylist of the Warren-Tricomi Salon was the master behind the locks of Nicole Richie and Mischa Barton at New York’s Spring/Summer 2008 Fashion Week.

To achieve the voluminous ponytail of Nicole Richie for the Max Azria show, Melville started by using a one-and-a-half pipe curling iron to give the hair body. He followed by pinning the hair into a ponytail at the crown, for height. With some teasing for added volume, a few products (L’Oreal Elnett Hairspray, Kiehl’s Silk Groom) for texture, and the right tools (Mason Pearson brush)…Voi la!…the voluminous ponytail.

Melville also styled Richie’s hair for Fashion Rocks. For a more casual, chic look, Melville chose a textured and slightly messy chignon, while keeping the bangs cleanly swept to the side. To keep the style in place, he used Kersastase Spray Volumactive and L’Oreal Elnett Hairspray.

For the “Une Journee A Paris” event hosted by Van Cleef & Arpels, Melville gave Mischa Barton a relaxed, wind-blown up-do. Melville started by blow drying Mischa’s hair with a Mason Pearson brush. To create a natural look, he loosely curled Mischa’s hair with a one-inch barrel curling iron for soft waves. He used Kersastase Spray Volumactive and Peter Hantz Styling Glaze, and then teased at the roots for volume. He finished the look off with L’Oreal Elnett Hairspray.
