How Skewed Is Your View of Beauty?
P.S. - The photo on the right is an actual billboard!
Anyway, see how it’s done.

I. Look. Like. Hell.
New York, New York. Oh How I Miss Thee!!!
I’m beat. Over the course of the past 24 hours, I’ve had stops in three different countries while trying to get back to good old NYC. From France to Germany, back to France and then on to England, quite frankly, I look like hell. My ponytail is lopsided, my blush has faded, my mascara has worn off, I’ve got two new pimples, my skin looks dull, and worst of all, I have bags under my eyes – which I never ever, ever, ever, ever never get. Much to my horror, on the 4th flight of the day, the guy sitting next to me asked what I did for a living. I was oh-so-ashamed to tell him that I’m a beauty editor!
Yes, I look that bad.
Sure, I could pull out my makeup kit from my purse, but what for? The baggage thine eyes carry trump any makeup tricks I could use right now anyway. I’m dreaming of the moment when I walk into my apartment and head straight for my personal beauty stash (ok, ok closet). I’m not playing around in my products today – I know exactly what I want. I’m gunning for the Skyn Iceland Icelandic Relief Eye Cream with Biospheric Complex, which ironically I have lying around just in case my grandmommy comes to visit. I’d never have thought that this cream was going to be the savior that brings my face back from the brink of layover limbo…
Thank goodness for Skyn Iceland Icelandic Relief Eye Cream with Biospheric Complex ($45). It’s not heavy or pasty, can be worn during the day, and an instant eye-perker-upper.
Yes, I made that word up. I said I’m beat!

Keira’s Making Me Eat. My. Words. Now.
Ok, ok. I take (part of) THIS back.
The Coco Chanel Mademoiselle commercial. Saw it a couple of weeks ago, and sadly I must admit (after seeing it 20 times), I’m obsessed. I find myself finally loving Ms. Keira Knightley as the new face of the fashion house’s fragrance. While I’m still not head over heels in love with her print ads, in this commercial she’s smiling, sassy, confident, a tad bit flippant (but it works), and all-around sexy, in a femme fatale, 40s film noir type of way. All in all, this commercial gives me everything I think today’s Chanel girl should be, especially since Keira’s portraying Ms. Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel herself.
Haven’t seen it? FYI - It’s partially shot in what was Coco Chanel’s actual apartment, Joss Stone is singing her heart out (covering one of Nat King Cole’s hits)… how could you not LOVE this commercial?
Are you sold yet, or do you need a little more convincing? Click HERE to learn more about the Coco Chanel Mademoiselle fragrance. My two cents? I think it’s sharp and timeless scent. I mean seriously, what else can you expect from Chanel?
P.S. - Is it just me or do we all detect a couple of curves on Keira’s frame? Tell me!

Seeing Should DEFINITELY Not Be Believing!
Raise your hand if you’ve ever seen your favorite celeb on the cover of a magazine and found yourself in awe over their flawlessness? Raise your hand if you’ve never really realized that photo was probably meticulously retouched for hours on end. Trust me; no one looks that perfect in person.
Case in point: Brittany Murphy. This photo was professionally retouched by iWANEX Studio for a commercial magazine.
See the difference? She miraculously has blonder hair, lighter skin, smoother skin, whiter teeth, browner eyes, smaller eyes, a smaller nose, pinker cheeks… I could go on and on and on!
On the contrary, it’s pertinent to give credit where credit is due. iWANEX Studio does an amazing job. They’ve worked on photos of Beyoncé, Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz, Eva Longoria, Halle Berry, and many more. Oh, and it’s not only girls – they’ve even cleaned up Justin Timberlake! See for yourself – visit the site, click on portfolio, click on a celebrity photo and run your mouse cursor across it toggle between the before and after photo.
My point is this: DON’T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU SEE. That’s all!
BTW GLAMonistas, here’s a real treat. Watch this plus-sized model be whittled down to a size 2 from a size 20. Oh, the beauty of Photoshop.

Glamour’s Advice to ‘Ethnic’ Hairstyles? Scrap It.
Not sure if you GLAMonistas have heard, but there’s been a whole lotta hoopla around the web concerning a certain Glamour magazine staffer who made a few negative comments towards radical hairstyles in the office, i.e. dreadlocks, afros, etc. Hmmmm. I wonder what ethnic group she was speaking of. You decide.
Here are her alleged comments:

Of course Glamour decided to do a bit of damage control, as they should have! Seriously, Queen Latifah’s on the cover (wearing a wig, nonetheless).

Here’s my two cents:
As a woman of color who proudly sports a coiled variation of ‘radical’ do, keep your comments to yourself. While I can appreciate you offering that bit of so-called ‘advice,’…
I think I’m a little too fired up to make a ‘professional judgment’ on this issue. My fellow bloggers have come to bat on this issue. Read up!
Oh, before you do – here’s my professional advice:

Glam Girl of the Week: Paris Hilton
Who: Paris Hilton, socialite/heiress/professional BFF/star of The Simple Life with on-again BFF Nicole Richie.
Why: Because America’s favorite troublemaker got a bit of bad news a few hours ago - she’s going to the pokey for 45 days!
I must admit - I’m ecstatic. I’m really tired of celebs thinking they’re above the law - drinking while driving IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. Nicole Richie, Busta Rhymes, Eve, Tracy Morgan, Vivica Fox, Michelle Rodriguez, Lane Garrett and others - GET A GRIP. You all make enough $$$ to hire a driver!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry for the rant. Back to beauty blabber!
xx,
