Scent of the Week: Warm Cotton

I have a confession to make. My favorite place on Earth is the laundromat. I simply love smell of fresh laundry and clean linen. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy…

I have another confession to make. When I was a child, I tried to make my own perfume out of Tide laundry detergent. Needless to say, it didn’t work as well as I thought it would. (I had one of the WORST rashes known to mankind.) Many years later, I’m happy to report that CLEAN fragrances has come up with the exact same scent in a safer alternative.

warmcotton.jpgRecently I was introduced to Warm Cotton, one of the newest CLEAN scents. Notes include citrus, watery green pear, verbana, amber, and musk. Who knew those notes combined would smell like a fluffy batch of clothes pulled right out of the dryer?

The smell of laundry just got a whole lot sexier… If you’re a laundry fanatic, skip over to your nearest Sephora and score a bottle for a mere $76.

Junkie Obsession du Jour: Sparkling Peach

Being that I was born and raised in the south, Georgia to be exact, I have a strong affinity for peaches – seriously, I have a peach tattooed on my lower back. (Wait, was that TMI?) Anyway, yesterday I was perusing the latest beauty products at an exclusive press preview when I came across my new favorite scent – Sparkling Peach Eau de Toilette from Bath & Body Works. (It took everything in me to tear myself away from the Bath & Body Works table and move on.) Imagine the bliss I experienced when I opened my gift bag later that evening to find the fragrance nestled at the bottom. Oh Joy!

To say this scent smells good would be an understatement. Notes include Georgia peach nectar, amber, musk, nectarine, grapefruit, jasmine, and more.

perfume.gifIronically enough, on the subway this morning, the guy sitting next to me was reading Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Süskind, as was I (so weird), and we got into a deep conversation about the book – and the peach perfume I’m wearing today. Turns out, I’m not the only one that fell in love with this vibrant fragrance instantly. ;)

If you like juicy, fruity fragrances, scurry to your local Bath & Body Works, or visit www.bbw.com to pick up a bottle of this orchard peach ecstasy. It’s only $18.50, and it’s worth every penny.

Scent of the Week: Memoire Liquide

Last week I was a bartender at a perfume bar. Yes - a perfume bar! For all of my NYC and LA GLAM girls, you can be a perfume bartender too. Head over to Henri Bendel or STUDIO at Fred Segal to experience  Memoire Liquide Bespoke Perfumery, a Parisian-themed fragrance haven where you and a custom-blending expert can mix your very own signature scent right at the kiosk!

Memoire Liquide, developed by siblings Robin Coe-Hutshing and Jennifer Coe-Bakewell in 1984, definitely has something to suit everyone’s olfactory taste. Are you a fan of amber? They’ve got it. Citrus? They’ve got it. Gardenia? Musk? Rose? Black Currant?  They’ve got it. With over 155 different oil-free fragrances (and counting) - it’s safe to assume you’ll be able to bottle “you.” Oh, and you can totally do a perfume spray or roll-on oil, body wash, lotion, bubble bath… the works!

memoire-liquide.jpg

Suprisingly, this experience isn’t at all overwhelming. It’s actually a lot of fun - you don’t realize how much time you’ve spent pondering over bottles and bottles of fragrances… Also, it’s neccessary to see how each scent works on your skin, so it’s best to try on your choices until you get it right. I tried on about ten - and I didn’t leave smelling like a stillery!

Go ahead - be an individual! IMO, a signature scent is a total must-have. I blended Petite Peche and Champagne Bellini. Don’t copy me! ;)

What fragrances would you mix to express your individuality?

Scent of the Week: Nina by Nina Ricci

If you don’t know by now, I’m a fragrance whore. I love perfume. Like, looooooooooove (hence the Scent of the Week posts). I have tons of bottles on my dresser. I’m sad to say, I think I may have found a fragrance that I’ll love forever and ever. Earlier today, while perusing the Nina Ricci showroom (you know Nina Ricci - her line is responsible for making Reese Witherspoon look DYNAMITE on the red carpet in this little yellow number and this super-sexy grape number), I was introduced to her newest fragrance, Nina.

nina_glamblush.jpg
How can I describe it? If you could bottle up a bit of youth with a bit of romance, Nina would be it. It’s a fresh & fruity floral… main notes include - Calabrese Lemon & Caipirinha Lime (sparkling & spontaneous), Red Toffee Apple & Vanilla Infusion (charming & seductive), Apple Tree Wood & Cotton Musk (tender & sensual). Also - the bottle is sooo cute. It looks like a little apple!

The GOOD news? I’ve have the Eau de Toilette and the Body Lotion, and I doused myself in it yesterday evening, last night, and this morning.

The BAD news? You can’t get a bottle until July 15th.

Ha.

Scent of the Week: CK One Summer

ck-one-summer-2007.jpgH.A.L.L.E.L.U.J.A.H. The sun has finally come out in NYC, and I praying the warm weather is finally here to stay. I must say, absolutely no one can be more excited for the long-awaited arrival of summer than me. I love summer. Like, LOVE. It’s my favorite season. It’s only befitting that the scent of the week be CK One Summer. It’s a sparkling citrus woody scent; notes include fresh squeezed grapefruit, orange pulp, mandarin, watermelon, watermint, orange flower, ginger, marigold, sun-bleached woods, creamy vanilla, vetiver, orris, and guaiacwood. Retail price is $40 for the eau de toilette, and $20 for the skin moisturizer. Very affordable! Look for it in department stores beginning in May - its limited edition so I’m sure this will fly off the shelves super fast.

Scent of the Week: Marc Jacobs Splash - Rain

mj-rain.jpgDue to the dreadful, not to mention untimely NorEaster (umm hello, it’s supposed to be SPRING) all I want to do was sleep. When I awoke this morning to rain, rain, and more rain, I had a thought – if I can’t beat it, I’ll join it. Thus, the fragrance of the week is Marc Jacobs Splash - Rain. Not only because of the name, but it’s such a fresh & clean scent, almost like the way the air smells right after the rain has come and gone, though Lauren says it reminds her of clean linen (which is still essentially fresh and clean). Notes include Wet Cut Grass, Wild Strawberry, Clementine Zest, Dewy Cypress, Tropical Rain Accord, Passion Flower, Sunshine Flower, White Orchid, Beech Amber, Musk, Tree Moss, and Teak Wood.

I think this’ll be the perfect complementary fragrance for a wet & wild week like this one. It’s limited edition, so if you’re interested in trying it head over to the Marc Jacobs section of Sephora.com ASAP.

Kiss Kiss!
