The Life Before Her Eyes Trailer

So I just got my hands on the teaser trailer of the upcoming movie The Life Before Her Eyes. It comes out in April and stars Uma Thurman and Evan Rachel Wood. I just watched and it looks REALLY interesting. Check it
below. Seems like a mystery meets coming-of-age type thing. I’m intrigued!

The Oscars: Live Blogging

- Intro with all the old movie characters: EXCELLENT

- Jon Stewart’s opening monologue: EXCELLENT

- The OSCAR goes to: Costume Design: Elizabeth: The Golden Age.  Speech – short and sweet. Loved it.

- George Clooney is super gorgeous in his 80 year anniversary intro. And that was an incredible montage.

- The OSCAR goes to: Animated Feature: Ratatouille. Who’s surprised? Steve Carell’s one-liner to Jon Stewart WAS HILARIOUS. Love him.

- The OSCAR goes to: Best Makeup: La Vie en Rose. Katherine Hiegl was nervous - and she told us so. Cute? Fake? What?

- The OSCAR goes to: Best Visual Effects: Golden Compass. Wow - I definitely thought Transformers would win. (And don’t tell anyone but I secretly like The Rock. Shhhhh!)

- The OSCAR goes to: Art Direction: Sweeney Todd. Cate Blanchett looked amazing. Jon Stewart is so funny with tribute to Cate.

- Supporting Actor tribute: So fun. Love Cuba.

- The OSCAR goes to: Best Supporting Actor: Javier Bardem. Yay! He won! His spanish tribute is so cute! (I admit, didn’t understand it….)

- Is Jon Stewart awesome? Yes, yes he is. Binoculars and periscopes bit is actually funny.

- Um, that little girl can sing….

- Jessica Alba is gorgeous - even pregnant!

- The OSCAR goes to: Best Adapted ScreenplayNo Country for Old Men, Joel and Ethan Coen. It’s kinda embarrassing that i haven’t seen this movie.

- Who is this guy? Get back to the stars! Get back to the awards!

- Oh, he’s explaining the process. And there are starts helping him. I’m the idiot.

- Standing ovation! Standing ovation! The first of the night! Goes to… Robert Boyle. Honorary Oscar recipient. He’s 98.

- The OSCAR goes to: Best Foreign Language Film: The Counterfeiters.

-Spielberg shoutout. Word.

- The OSCAR goes to: Cinematography: There Will Be Blood. Need to see this movie!! Also, Cameron was cute. Liked that she pretty much admitted she can’t pronounce the word Cinematography. (and it’s 50/50 on whether I’ve spelled it right…)

- The montage they do each year is always moving. This year, particularly so with the recent passing of Heath Ledger.

- The OSCAR goes to: Original Score: Atonement. This score is hauntingly good. Amy Adams is so cute. My best good friend’s husband really likes her. I do too.

The Oscars: Red Carpet Highlights

 garner.jpg

Thoughts from the red carpet:
- Gary Busey is odd. The way he jumped in on Ryan Seacrest’s interview with Jennifer Garner and Laura Linney was so bizarre. Everyone was scared.
- Jennifer Garner looked amazing. Love her dress, love the hair.
- Anne Hathaway’s Marchesa dress was gorgeous and looked wonderful on the actress. Her boyfriend Raffaello Follieri was nice arm candy as well!

- Cameron Diaz was pretty in pink – her dress was Dior.
- George Clooney is very handsome and his girlfriend is cute too… very interesting that he brought her along… he’s not known to bring his girlfriends on the red carpet!
- HIGHLIGHT: Jason Bateman confirmed the rumors that they are trying to do an Arrested Development movie. YIPEE!

Academy Awards: We Are Mere Days Away!

After the Golden Globes were handed out during a press conference, I just wasn’t prepared to experience the Oscarsr the same way. Thank god, we don’t have to worry about that anymore. Instead, we can (generously) pour ourselves some wine, get out the cheese and crackers, and park on the couch for this Sunday’s show.  Even though the show doesn’t start until 5pm, (west coast only - you east-coasters need to tune in at 8pm) I think I’ll be camped out around 2 or 3pm so I can see each and every gown and tuxedo that walks down the red carpet.  TV Guide’s red carpet coverage is hosted by Lisa Rinna and joey Fatone so I’ll definitely check that out.

I was happy to hear that some fun people were presenting at the awards, adding more fun gowns to watch for.  In particular, I’m excited to see: Jessica Alba (in maternity wear!), Cate Blanchett, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Garner, Anne Hathaway, Katherine Heigl, Nicole Kidman, Hilary Swank, and Renee Zellweger.  Lisa Rinna is also doing a Fashion Wrap up on Monday night at 7pm should anyone miss any of the night’s gowns.

To get in the mood, here is a link to our predictions of the big winners.

And if you’re in it to see the dresses, here is a slideshow of the most memorable gowns over the years.

I Heart Sheryl Crow

Who doesn’t love Ms. Crow? She’s the poster child for girl power, for independence, for overcoming life obstacles, and for kickass great music. My two favorite songs by the female rccker are Strong Enough and Leaving Las Vegas. But after listening to her new album, I might change my mind. Detours, which has been out for a week, is more great Sheryl. Fun beats, great voice… It’s perfect for the car.

Have you heard it? What do you think?

Definitely Maybe: Out Tomorrow

Confession time: I have loved Ryan Reynolds since he starred on the Nickelodeon series Fifteen. When he starred on the show Two Guys, a Girl and Pizza Place, I watched relgiously. And when he made the leap to the big screen, I was one of his biggest supporters (I have seen Van Wilder no less than 10 times. It’s actually REALLY funny.)

Why am I telling you all this? Because he is in the movie Definitely Maybe that comes out this weekend and I cannot WAIT to see it.  The trailer looks so good! And the cast is pretty interesting: Isla Fisher, Rachel Weisz,  Elizabeth Banks (love her!), and the lovable Abigal Breslin.

Let me know if you see it this weekend… and whether or not you liked it!
