By Angel Lenise Robinson November 29,2012
While the saying goes that money makes the world go round, at Spotify, music does. Since its launch in 2008, the music streaming network has garnered 15 million subscribers worldwide who turn to the app to discover and digest a music catalog of 18 million songs… and counting. But even with its growing audio archives, there are a group of artists who stream past the rest. Drake, Nicki Minaj, Gotye, Eminem, and Fun were among the service’s top acts of 2012. Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” claimed the number one spot as the most-streamed track of the year, while the “Unapologetic” Rihanna was number one on the female artists list. Her “Who’s That Chick” collaborator David Guetta proved victorious, earning top male artist and most streamed album of the year. And that’s only the beginning! Check out the mega-music stars who kept Spotify users singing, dancing, and partying all across the globe, then head over to Spotify for the most-shared tracks and most popular bands of 2012 playlists. You can thank us for all the listening pleasure later!
