Soul sister, writer extraordinaire, actress superb, brave lady comedian and every 20 something year old girl’s modern hero, 26 year old Lena Dunham has had quite the year. Besides becoming our imaginary best friend, she went from a little known film maker to one of the hottest stars of 2012, establishing herself as a voice of this generation in writing, producing and starring in her hit HBO show “Girls.” We’re not the only ones that fell in love with the series; Dunham garnered four Emmy nominations this year for her efforts. Most recently, she’s signed a $3.5 million deal to publish her first book, a collection of essays titled Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She’s Learned, and season two of Girls is set to premiere January 13th 2013. It’s no wonder Time magazine named Lena “The Coolest,” of 2012. Away from the writing and acting, homegirl keeps it real with hilarious twitter updates, raw honesty in her interviews and a style that puts quirky and a little rough around the edges on the map. Thank you, Lena, for being cool but not pretentious, for standing out in the Hollywood circle (in a good way!), and for writing a show that will always one up our cringeworthy dating moments.
