Buzz Alert: Gone Girl Could Be Coming to a Theater Near You

Author Gillian Flynn sent book clubs, novel novices, and the New York Times Best Seller list into a whirlwind with the June 2012 release of her anticipated mystery Gone Girl. Now, the sensational read is being prepped for its Hollywood debut. The thriller about a man who tries to prove his innocence after his wife of five years ends up missing, not only earned a seven-figure deal through 20th Century Fox and a producer credit with Reese Witherspoon on the bill but also caught David Fincher‘s directorial eye. Although he hasn’t confirmed a role in the project, Fincher is leading the race of potential directors for the silver screen adaptation of Flynn’s latest work. But that’s not the only big news for Flynn, who had three best sellers listed at the same time. Her first novel, Sharp Objects has been optioned by Alliance and will be produced by Blumhouse’s Jason Blum, while Amy Adams has been tapped as the lead for the screen version of her second book, Dark Places. After some blockbuster reads, it seems that Flynn is well on her way to championing some blockbuster movie hits too.
