Music Musings: Soundtrack Superbowl Sunday with Beyonce, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, and More
By Angel Lenise Robinson January 28,2013
Are you ready for some football?! Well, that makes two of us — at least when it comes to Superbowl Sunday and the halftime spectacular that reels us in year, after year, after year. In just five days, we’re in for another Superbowl soirée where the main attraction isn’t the Baltimore Ravens or the San Francisco 49ers. Our eyes and ears will be tuned into Beyoncé‘s ultimate comeback extravaganza. In 2004, the Houston darling opened the games with a soul-stirring rendition of the National Anthem (much like that of this year’s Presidential Inauguration, lip-syncing scandal or not), and now, nine years later, she will be joining the ranks of Madonna, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, and Billboard‘s current cover star, Prince by dazzling fans during the halftime show. While her set list is rumored to include a Destiny’s Child live reunion and a huge fan flashmob, what we can confirm is that in true Beyoncé fashion, it will be an energetic, enchanting performance that will only cement 2013 as the year of the Beyhive. So, in an ode to all halftime headliners of years past and the newest Instagram-er who’s teasing us with rehearsal snapshots, (hey BaddieBey!), here’s a GLAM-curated Superbowl super mix to get you fired up for February 3.
