THE PARTY: The 6th Annual Women In Film Pre-Oscar Cocktail Party
THE PLACE: Fig & Olive
THE DEETS: Women in Film celebrates the ladies who propel the industry forward and Friday night’s bash honored the Academy’s biggest crop of female nominees. Countless bottles of Perrier-Jouët were popped to toast the 2013 Oscar nominees in attendance, including Amy Ziering, Cori Shepherd Stern, Cynthia Wade, David O. Russell, Estelle Fialon, Jacki Weaver, Jessica Chastain, Karen Baker Landers, Katie Spencer, Kief Davidson, Lucy Alibar, Philippa Kowarsky, Pilar Savone, Quvenzhane Wallis, Robin Honan, Sarah Greenwood, Sari Gilman, and Stacey Sher.WIF President Cathy Schulman encouraged the crowd of actors, directors, producers, editors, and designers to go after the money and carve out a bigger piece of the Hollywood pie before introducing her co-host, 2012 Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer. “If it weren’t for so many women paving the way for a little black girl with funny teeth and a cute little round body dreaming differently I wouldn’t be here and you guys wouldn’t know who the hell I am,” said Spencer. “Thank you for being the mothers, the pioneers, the best friends, and the trailblazers, if it weren’t for you the diversity we see on the screen and behind the scenes wouldn’t be happening.” After she stepped down from the stage in her Tadashi Shoji dress, Spencer took a seat next to one of her own female besties and The Help co-star Viola Davis. “This is what it’s about,” she said.
THE SWAG: Mini bottles of Perrier-Jouët and a selection of MAC cosmetics chosen by Tami Lane, the Best Makeup Artist Oscar nominee for her work on The Hobbit.
