Win a Relative Madness iPod!

SOAPnet is unveiling a new six-week series, Relative Madness, that is on Thursdays at 11pm. The show centers around celebrities and the types of family drama they have. In anticipation of the show, we’re hosting a little contest here at GlamBuzz…. if you leave a comment that includes your name and the celebrity family you think needs the most therapy!

Once the contest ends on June 12, we’ll randomly select a winner. The prize package contains: ONE 30GB iPod that holds 7500 songs with SOAPnet engraved on the back, ONE SOAPnet light purple mug which says, “Darling sister, MY LOVE FOR YOU SOMEWHAT OUTWEIGHS MY UNBRIDLED RESENTMENT,” and a Navy Blue American Apparel Tee that says, “Mom, you’ve made my therapist a wealthy, wealthy man!”

Good luck!

How I Met Your Mother: It Just Keeps Getting Better

himym.jpg

Last night’s episode of How I Met Your Mother was excellent.

I wouldn’t be surprised if readers of this blog were sick and tired of hearing about this show–but it’s my way of telling you what you’re missing. Cause I know you’re missing it. They don’t have enough viewers each week for me to think that any of you are watching it. Also, every time I ask someone if they watch it, they say no. So listen to me — watch this show! It’s on Mondays on CBS at 8:30pm and it’s hilarious.

The show last night featured another music video from Robin Sparkles–and a total surprise ending which I absolutely love and can’t wait to see what happens next week. (In case you have it tivo’d, I won’t spoil the surprise.) What I will tell you about is yet another perfecetly cast guest star. This week features James van der Beek as an aged Canadian rock star. He was hilarious. This follows other great casting choices like Sarah Chalke and Britney Spears (who as we all know, is coming back).

Guys, trust me. It’s that good.

I’m Lost (get it?)

I’m not really lost, I just had to do that play on words… It’s not even a good play on words, but I still had to do it….

losthaircut.jpg

Just so you know, I’m just as obsessed with Lost as I am with How I Met Your Mother and 30 Rock.  There is a bit of a love/hate relationship there, but overall, I’m completely hooked. So many characters have me caring so much about their fate: Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Juliet, Saied, Hurley, even Ben! Half of me can’t wait for the next episode but the other half can’t wait for the series to wrap up and have all questions answered.

Here are some of my open questions:

- Who the hell is Ben? Who does he work for? And what is his ultimate goal?

- How much of this entire show is going to be explained by Sci-Fi stuff and how much will be realistically explained? I’m hoping it’s more of the latter. I was happy to see that some rich dude faked the plane crash with all the dead bodies instead of all the people on the island already dying once and this being pergatory. (Although I guess that could still be the case…)

- Who does Jack dig? Kate or Juliet?

- Who does Kate dig? Jack or Sawyer? (And am I lame for caring?)

Let me know what you all think!

A Solid B+ for Britney

Here’s the deal: I think Britney did a pretty good job on How I Met Your Mother last night. She looked good, she seemd uncrazy, and she delivered her lines without stuttering or going cross-eyed. I’ve read elsewhere that this was seen less as a stunt and more of damage control. I think that’s probably true.

As I watched last night, I kept looking over at my husband excitedly each time Britney spoke. I was just so happy that she pulled herself together long enough to pull this off. Because deep down, I want her to have a comeback. I am pulling for Britney Spears — and I think this is a solid step.

THAT SAID, I must say, she fell short of an A. I can only give her the B+. Here’s why: I think you get really good insight into someone’s true acting/performing talent by watching them host Saturday Night Live. You can see who is comfortable, who isn’t, who has innate good timing, who can be silly, etc.  And I thought Britney was exellent when she hosted.  And I thought her performance last night, while solid, wasn’t on par to her SNL gig.

Finally, I felt the show was strong overall. With a bunch new people watching, it had an opportunity to grab some news fans. And I’m sure it succeeded.

P.S. HOW FUNNY IS SARAH CHALKE? New girl crush for sure.

American Idol: Who Should Be Paula’s (COUGH) Protege?

Everyone remembers Corey Clark and his rumored affair with Paula Abdul. She denied, denied, denied… but I think we all know those two probably spent some time “practicing” after hours. It caused quite a stir at the time (much to American Idol’s secret delight.) And as I look back over the 5 seasons since, there hasn’t been anyone else since who’s caused a commotion for our girl Paula. So, choosing from the 6 final guys on the show, here are my top 3 choices for who she should, ahem, coach.

- David Archuleta: Everybody loves David. Including me. And most likely, including Paula. Did I at first think he might be another Clay Aiken? Of course. Do I think he rise above the dorkiness? ABSO-FRIGGIN-LUTELY. This boy can sing. And I think, with a little extra push from Paula, he could land in the top two.

- Jason Castro: I’m guessing Paula is already under Jason’s spell. Those blues eyes are alluring enough on TV, I can’t imagine what they’re like in person. His voice is good, his whole vibe is good…. all we need Paula to do is get him to cut his hair and we might have a winner!

 David hernandez on american idol

- David Hernandez: Would anyone be surprised if these two had already found some post-show practice time? I’d bet at least one dollar that those two have played some tonsil hockey (who says that anymore?). America might not be ready for a stripper to win the title, but I’m pretty sure Paula is.

Out of those three, who do YOU think she should hook up with? I mean, mentor?

5 Reasons Why We Can’t Wait for 30 Rock to Return

April 10, 2008 is day we won’t forget for a long time. For it’s the day the best show on television, 30 Rock, finally returns to the air after the writers strike. Here are the top 5 reasons we are barely able to wait to see new episodes of the show…

tina_fey-resized.jpg

5. Grizz and Dot Com: I mean, their names are Grizz and Dot Com. Just hearing people call them that is funny.

4. The (Fictitious) Writer’s Room: The shenanigans (yes, this word is back thanks to Juno) that take place each week in that room are great. The one-line zingers thrown around by Toofer, Josh, and Frank are smart and super funny.

3. The Actual Writing: There hasn’t been tv comedy writing this good since Arrested Develepment. Sharp, witty, and surprising each and every week–this is the level to which all other shows should aspire.

2. The Two Terrific T’s, Tracy and Tina: Morgan plays crazy better than anyone. And Fey plays the smart-but-in-crisis-mode-30-something woman to perfection. PERFECTION.

1. Alec Baldwin: As many before have written, this is the role of a lifetime for this seasoned actor. His delivery, his expressions, his every single nuance as Jack Donaghy is just brilliant. Watching him interact with the also crazy-talented Tina Fey is just the frosting on the cake.

Super Sunday = Sexy Sunday??

While I can’t wait to watch the Super Bowl (though it’s mostly for the ads), I am also looking forward to another week of Soapnet fun! This week’s movie is Deadly Sins starring Alyssa Milano as an undercover cop. As a HUGE fan of Alyssa’s from the super fun ’80s sitcom Who’s the Boss, i’m excited to see her in this (I miss Charmed!).  The movie centers around the mysterious disappearances of students at a religious school for girls.

Once the super bowl is done, I’m planning on checking out this little ditty at 10pm. Let me know what you think!

My favorite character on The Office is…

Jim.

Now before you roll your eyes at the predictability of this answer, please know that every single other character was up for the award.  But after thinking about it for a long time, I realized that even though I adore everyone else and think they are so funny and talented, it’s Jim’s reactions to everyone else that I look forward to and enjoy the most.

Dwight’s antics are gut-wrenchingly funny (is that a word?) but it’s Jim’s quick glance at the camera that seals the deal for me every time. Kelly’s obsessive ranting about Ryan in that singsong voice is hilarious but Jim’s funnier. Michael Scott is great. Uncomfortable and great. But it’s his conversations with Jim that I enjoy the most. Each person adds their brilliance to this show (can you tell I’m a fan?) and each one deserves accolades out the…

But, at the end of the day, Jim’s timing, Jim’s glances at the camera, and Jim’s cute little smile is the cherry on top of this fantastic hot fudge sundae.
