Super Sunday = Sexy Sunday??

While I can’t wait to watch the Super Bowl (though it’s mostly for the ads), I am also looking forward to another week of Soapnet fun! This week’s movie is Deadly Sins starring Alyssa Milano as an undercover cop. As a HUGE fan of Alyssa’s from the super fun ’80s sitcom Who’s the Boss, i’m excited to see her in this (I miss Charmed!).  The movie centers around the mysterious disappearances of students at a religious school for girls.

Once the super bowl is done, I’m planning on checking out this little ditty at 10pm. Let me know what you think!

My favorite character on The Office is…

Jim.

Now before you roll your eyes at the predictability of this answer, please know that every single other character was up for the award.  But after thinking about it for a long time, I realized that even though I adore everyone else and think they are so funny and talented, it’s Jim’s reactions to everyone else that I look forward to and enjoy the most.

Dwight’s antics are gut-wrenchingly funny (is that a word?) but it’s Jim’s quick glance at the camera that seals the deal for me every time. Kelly’s obsessive ranting about Ryan in that singsong voice is hilarious but Jim’s funnier. Michael Scott is great. Uncomfortable and great. But it’s his conversations with Jim that I enjoy the most. Each person adds their brilliance to this show (can you tell I’m a fan?) and each one deserves accolades out the…

But, at the end of the day, Jim’s timing, Jim’s glances at the camera, and Jim’s cute little smile is the cherry on top of this fantastic hot fudge sundae.

Golden Globes Winners Announced

Though celebrities didn’t walk the red carpet and there weren’t gorgeous gown adorning the stage, tonight’s Golden Globes announcements were still somewhat exciting. I was thrilled to hear Tina Fey’s name read as the winner of Best Actress, TV Comedy and disappointed that Ellen Page didn’t snag Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy. But it was still super fun to watch the Press Conference on E!Online and read the live blog coverage over at EW.

For those who missed the show (if you blinked, it was over), here is a list of the winners:

A Golden Globes Replacement

There is one perk to canceling the Golden Globes… I won’t have to Tivo my guilty Sunday night pleasure! I’ve admitted it before, I’m kinda obsessed with the Soapnet movie each week. The stories keep sucking me in…

soap.jpg

This week, the movie is Keys and stars Marg Helgenberger (CSI). It’s about a forensic pathologist who is summoned to help police in a bizarre murder and kidnapping case. And it takes place in the Florida Keys, quite possibly one of my favorite places in the world!

Tune in – and let me know what you think this Monday.

Why I’ll Miss the Golden Globes

I have to admit, I’m pretty sad the Golden Globes have been canceled. I love how the GGs highlight both TV and Movies and all the best actors and actresses from the big and small screen all get together for a big lovefest. Not to mention the amazing fashion we get to see on the red carpet…

nicole.jpg

I might be alone here, but watching and hearing the winner’s speeches is also super interesting to me. Seeing who they thank (and who they don’t) and seeing them react as themselves instead of their character. And now we have Nancy Dell and Billy Bush just reading off the names in a one-hour press conference.

Don’t get me wrong – I understand the strike and think there’s merit, but wouldn’t it stink if THIS was the year you finally won an award?

In years past, getting ready for the Golden Globes was a big deal—I’d invite similarly obsessed friends to come watch with me (no one is allowed to talk during the show so I only invite serious entertainment lovers.), I’d print out ballets and spend a week selecting my choices, and I’d prepare some fabulous and tasty food to nosh on while watching.

This year, since it’s just a one-hour press conference, I’m going to skip my get-together and the delicious food… though I will still print out a ballet and keep score.

Before I sign off, here are the people/shows I hope win the most:

Tina Fey, 30 Rock, Actress, TV Comedy or Musical
George Clooney, Michael Clayton, Actor, Drama
Ellen Page, Juno, Actress, Musical/Comedy
Casey Affleck, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Supporting Actor
30 Rock, Series, Comedy or Musical
Grey’s Anatomy, Series Drama
Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock, Actor, Musical or Comedy

Scott Baio is 46 and Pregnant (and also a Secret Crush of Mine!)

Confession time: I was totally and completely addicted to the show Scott Baio is 45 and Single. Not only did I like watching Scott interview each of his ex-girlfriends about why they didn’t work out, I LOVED seeing the older brother from Wonder Years give advice to Scott (he’s one of his best friends in real life.)

So, the show ended with Scott asking his girlfriend Renee to marry him (which was super cute). Since the show was based around him being single, I thought for sure there wouldn’t be a second season… but lo and behold, there is! Scott Baio is 46 and Pregnant premieres on VH1 this Sunday, 1/13 at 10pm. I can’t WAIT.

Here’s a quick preview:

Today’s Question: You’re having a dinner party and can invite 3 Hollywood couples to attend. Who are they?

Here is my guest list:

Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann (They’re both hilarious… and he was just named the smartest guy in Hollywood by EW)
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson (Wilson’s articles in Harper’s are usually pretty good and Tom seems pretty down to earth and cool.)
Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi (Laughs from Ellen, Arrested Development Scoop from De Rossi)

Who would you invite? Comment below…

Spicy Sunday Nights

I just found out about this very cool new thing on Sunday nights. SOAPnet, the channel where you can watch same-day soaps at night so you never have to miss an episode even if you work, is launching a new Sunday night movie shindig. So each week, they show a flick sure to be entertaining.

soap.jpg

So why do I care? Because these are FUN movies. Guilty pleasure movies. Grab some popcorn and wine movies.  And because I’m sick of watching Titanic every other Sunday on the networks. This Sunday’s film is Kiss of Death. (I mean, the name ALONE grabs me!) It stars Samantha Who? Star Christina Applegate and is sure to be delicious. (Did I just use the word delicious to describe a movie? Yes, I did.)

And let me know what you think after you watch!

Arrested Development, The Movie?!?!?

Tell me it’s true! Tell me it’s so! There might be an Arrested Development movie! So here’s the scoop… I was reading one of my FAVORITE sites ever (Pajiba) and while there I saw a link to this blog post, that states that at several of the Juno press conferences, Jason Bateman (the legendary Michael Bluth) made some references to jump-starting a movie based on the series. ALSO, series creator apparently made this statement: “[The movie] something [they’re] very interested in doing, but only after the writers’ strike, and only if the powers that be approve.”  This doesn’t sound out of the realm of possibility to me!

While there has been some amazing new comedies to hit the small screen since this show went away (30 Rock and The Office, I’m talking to you), I just haven’t laughed as hard since Arrested Development.

Cross your fingers!
