Before I get into all the goodies I found during my market appointments in L.A., let me share a non-fashion highlight. First off, unlike New York, L.A. has a distinct, and well-organized Fashion District in downtown city center—which makes a whirlwind tour of all the showrooms quite a breeze. (In Manhattan, where designers and their showrooms are peppered all around town, a similar trip around town would require detours and U-turns.) Plus L.A. has loads of room, which means showrooms are spacious and bright, and often filled with all kinds of fantastic furniture. (Mostly mid-century treasures, no doubt thanks to the city’s amazing flea markets and vintage shops.)
A quick jaunt through the Cooper building—which houses many a showroom including that of Cynthia Vincent and James Jeans —is almost as inspiring as leafing through your favorite interior design magazine. Here, a quick peek at the most stylish showrooms:
