Why It Works: Behold the wonder of Chanel: The classic quilted purse makes Miss Hilton’s Mickey Mouse tee seem off-kilter and cool, instead of slightly passé.

Why It Works: Miss Olsen takes a polished, lady-like bag—in this case Fendi’s glossy croc tote—and turns it into a hipster piece by pairing it with the downtown accents du jour: Black fedora hat, leather jacket, and black Ray Bans. Why It Works: It’s tough to accessorize an ornate dress like this Versace number, so Miss Berry did as any savvy star would do: She skipped the jewels and handbag, and opted for a high-wattage gent to complement her dress. (and yes, for you word-players, surely he complimented her too).
