With an aesthetic best described as flirty English Rose and sweetly Victorian name like Nanette, it would be easy to make the same daft mistake that I did, and wrongly assume that Nanette Lepore is British. Not the case, as I recently found out during a Q&A session I had with the designer. Among the other fun tidbits, I learned that Lepore actually hails from Ohio, taught Thakoon a few tricks, shops at American Apparel, and recently opened a boutique in London. (Here, one would be correct in assuming that hershop fits in well with the city’s fashionable Knotting Hill neighborhood.)
