Congratulations. You’ve made it to Friday—a common goal shared by nearly one and all. Yet some outside the fashion industry might be puzzled to think that the style set is just as eager as say, insurance claim specialists, to end their work-week. What about all those free clothes? What about all those parties? How can you ever get sick of all that? From my experience, response for many includes late nights, intense deadlines, and fanatical superiors. I’d even venture to guess that if asked to give an assessment of their day-to-day, most industry insiders would say it’s 5% glitz, 95% grunt-work.

Wanting to take a more thorough evaluation, I took an informal poll of a few industry insiders and asked each to describe their job and workplace in 5 words or less. Most avoided specifics—and expletives—but even so, their responses might surprise you. Here’s what they had to say, listed from glowing niceties to tormented prose.
