While the team here at Glam is eagerly anticipating the final round of our Be Discovered handbag design contest, the folks over at Ecco Domani have some exciting fashion competition awards news to share. Starting this year, the Italian winemaker will include an accessory category—that includes bags, shoes, gloves, baubles, anything non-ready-to-wear—in its annual fashion scholarship awards.

Previous winners of the Ecco Domani ready-to-wear award—allocated to outstanding emerging designers—have included Proenza Schouler, ErinFetherston , Rodarte, Brian Reyes, and Vena Cava, which makes the E.D. award something like a Willy Wonka Golden ticket to the fashion world. The competition is stiff, so accessory designers with labels already up and running are more likely to get in the game. The application deadline is October 5th, 2007, and winners are announced on January 2, 2008, so mark your calendar to check out GlamChic on 1/2/08 to see the all the Ecco Domani results.
