Hefty Heels Rule in Milan

It may be tough to see in all these runway photos, but clunky colorful heels were, as they say, all the rage in Milan. Some of the most stunning scarpe could be found on Belstaff and Derercuny runways.

Belstaff, the storied Italian house best known for their motocross jackets, unveiled a sleek ‘n’ sporty collection of leather minis, anorak-style silk dresses, and cropped jackets, all of which were made more futuristic (and appealing) by chunky cubist platforms.

On the Derecuny runway, artful, girlish dresses were de rigeur, but when worn with tri-color strappy platforms or studded sandals, the sweet dresses looked hip not saccharine. Many a fashion week attendee pulled of this of-the-moment look, by pairing opaque tights and hefty-looking heels with dainty dresses.

Editor’s Note: The Derercuny team treated guests to morning snacks too. And you know how much I love a good mini-sandwich.
