This morning, at the Heart Truth Red Dress Show (held in honor of the holiday du jour, National Heart Disease Awareness Day) several interesting things happened.
First, First Lady Barbara Bush attended (NOT wearing red dress but white suit) and made a few opening remarks, which included the following statement on the holiday’s dress code: “Red dresses are inspiring: They inspire women to try to fit into smaller red dresses, they inspire us to stop smoking, to adopt better eating habits, to have healthier lifestyle…” etc.
Then, out strode some red carpet regulars in crimson designer gowns. Heidi Klum, Maria Menounos, and Sara Ramirez earned the most applause while Cheryl Hines, Allison Janney, and Camryn Manheim did more shimmying than walking on the runway.
And for the grand finale at New York Fashion Week’s kick-off show, Liza Minelli (also not wearing a red dress but a beaded pantsuit number) sang—wait for it— “New York, New York.” As promised, above you’ll find a video clip of Minelli and the Heart Truth gang…
