It may surprise Project Runway fans to learn that Michael Kors has a conservative side. For fall the witty, wise-cracking designer gave his globe-trotting babe look a rest and offered a variety of brainy ‘60s styles including twin-sets, floral day dresses, pencil skirts, and mink boleros. The vintage-feeling skirt suits and fur-accented looks channeled Hitchcock’s intellectual heroines while more casual pieces spoke to those refined folks who weekend in the country. And to close the show, instead of sending a parade of sultry red carpet looks down the runway, Kors put his catwalkers into sophisticated Jackie O-worthy columns of jacquard and brocade. Perhaps he’s campaigning to be a candidate for ’08’s inaugural gown designer?
