Patricia Field: One Of A Kind

Patricia Field

Patricia Field’s show was as expected; a FIERCE event. Star-studded with only New York’s finest, the cast of hit show Ugly Betty and downtown fabulous drag queens alike shared the front row seats. The fashion was unreal, every model wearing something a little different than the next. The catwalk screamed color and the fashion extravaganza was more of a story, as the models never left the stage after playfully walking to loud applause, laughter and shout-outs to the amazing designers. Making an appearance was drag queen extraordinaire Lady Bunny, whose notoriously big and beautiful hair was sculpted into an elegant up-do. She looked every inch the diva in a sparkling baby blue number. Also in tow was the super-fabulous Sultana. I managed to grab a quick interview with her before the show:

What’s your spring wardrobe essential?
Gold shoes

Are you rocking them now? (points her toes out from under her red dress)
No, they are black tonight!

What do you like most about how Patricia Field puts an outfit together?
I like how she uses street and couture and RED! Red is the color of power honey!
( Red was also the hair color of choice for Patricia Field might I add!)

And I see you are looking very glamorous in red this evening! You have a very distinctive accent, where are you from?
I was born in Cairo. I’m the only Middle Eastern drag queen in the whole of New York City.

I have to say you are the only Middle Eastern drag queen I have met in any city! is there anything else Glam.com readers should know about you?
I am the only drag queen belly dancer and I released a song called “Mix It Up,” it’s going to be on YouTube very soon.

What style of music is it? Pop? Club?
You can definitely dance to it, it’s very pop. Very disco!

Can we hear some of it perhaps an exclusive?
Sure!

“I’m coming out from Cairo on the way to New York. Stopping in my palace…

Is it uptown, is it downtown, is it diamonds or is it drag,
Mix it up whatever you are mix it up everyone is a star.”

With these final lyrics Sultana air kissed us goodbye and headed over to a press-swarmed Vanessa Williams and Ana Ortiz, while we spotted Patricia and Andre J bogeying to a Beyonce track in their seats! - Francine Uba
