A blue box and white satin ribbon can only mean one thing and on Monday night it meant an invitation to the premier of Bride Wars. The film, which stars Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson as lifelong best friends turned brides-to-be/enemies, had lavish weddings on the minds of many. Hathaway, who wore a Band of Outsiders pantsuit and Hudson, in Oscar de la Renta are real life pals who walked portions of the powder blue carpet hand in hand.
Once inside the theater was packed with a varied bunch, including Kristen Johnston, Barbara Walters, Lisa Rinna, Nate Berkus, Brian Atwood, and The Real Housewives of New York City. Vera Wang, whose dress Hudson’s character wears in the film, sat in the audience with her daughters chuckling at the line: “You don’t alter a Vera to fit you, you alter yourself to fit the Vera.”
Though they compete for a June wedding at the Plaza in Bride Wars, both Hudson and Hathaway agreed that a party at Tiffany & Co. is quite divine. A cocktail reception surrounded the main floor of the 57th Street flagship with champagne, wine, sliders and even the requisite carving station and smoked salmon. Heart shaped grilled chesses and biscuits with lobster salad were passed throughout with adorable blue box petits fours for dessert. Erin Fetherston and her fiancé Hedi Ferjani checked out the spread before holding court at a mini table with white cabbage roses. The whimsical designer forged a relationship with Hathaway, when the actress sat front row at her fashion show.
But it was the glimmering display counters that drew the attention of many. Dina Lohan tried on a men’s gold watch, which Bethany Frankel tried engagement rings on for size. With cases overflowing with ring boxes, it was easy to fall prey to the diamonds allure. Though we didn’t spot any big ticket purchases, every guest left toting a Tiffany bag with a Little Blue Book inside; perfect for chronicling those summer wedding plans. ~Nola Weinstein

I can’t wait to see this movie. Their pictures at the premiere were so cool. What a funny idea. I am pretty sure it was planned… well done.
