Hérve Léger Love

Herve Leger

When we took our seat at the Hérve Léger by Max Azria show, we expected to see a series of mini multicolored bandage dresses come down the runway and a front row full of celebs in their own curve hugging versions. Though Joy Bryant, Lucy Liu, Michelle Trachtenberg, January Jones, Sophia Bush, and Jessica Stroup were in fact donning their sexiest Léger numbers, what came down the runway  pleasantly surprised us. Bondage replaced bandage with leather, exotic skins and harsher details. Instead of bright pink and multicolored stripes, Fall 2009 brought safari inspired brown, beige and green, with black and silver dominating. Dresses with armored sleeves gave looks a military feel, while beading and sequins kept the optimistic glitz. We’ve noticed designers using roaring 20s cuts and flapper finesse, and Azria made his nod to the era with beaded fringes and looked forward with futuristic optimism. A sparkling silver mini left the audience in delight, as did the three models who tripped on the runway and kept walking with their heads high. It seems the brand is evolving in a beautiful way and we heart Hérve Léger. ~ Nola Weinstein
