What recession? Oh, honey, honey, honey. Some like it hot, and Richie Rich is one flashy showboy who loves to crank up the heat. His carnival included a torch singer, a glamrock violinist, shirtless male ballet dancers, and a pop performance by Kat DeLuna. The only thing missing from the Richie Circus was a fire-breathing gilded camel. Had Richie been able to procure one, I’m sure it would have been there, spitting flames at the wide-eyed audience. His designs were punk rock princess meets Marilyn Monroe, running the gamut from jumpsuits covered in smooches to simple, floor-length gowns. The male models wore nothing but a half smile and boxer briefs adorned with gold coins. Of course the show had to go out with a glorious bang. You can’t set off fireworks in the Waldorf-Astoria, and so Richie opted for the next best thing: Pamela Anderson wearing a shimmering Brazilian-cut onesie. She high-kicked her way down the runway, and then Richie glided out on roller skates, embracing Anderson. In the words of another infamous blonde: Loves it. ~Emily Popp
