Jason Wu’s Resort 2010 Retreat
By NOLA WEINSTEIN 06.04.2009
Jason Wu is on a high this year and he’s taking us along for the ride. To preview his Resort 2010 collection, Wu invited select editors to the Greenwich Hotel, where his runway started in a serene courtyard. Few took their seats without a glass of champagne in hand, but once they did they were greeted with a sweet treat and braced themselves for another stellar collection. Wu seemed as relaxed as we were, enjoying a quiet moment outside before his creations hit the runway. This season looks were inspired by Iris Apfel, whose influence was apparent in the elegant classics and piled on details. Rose embroidery and petal embellishments had dresses and coats blossoming. Highlighter-red, green and yellow brightened things up and butterfly knots kissed the rich confections. Standouts included a neutral mist dress with a rose embroidered skirt and a cobalt petaled corset dress. The 20-look show provided an ethereal and beautiful break from the hectic city buzz. Oh and Jason…we’ll cruise with your wares any day! ~Nola Weinstein
