Encountering Caroline Seikaly’s Resort 2010 Collection was like walking into a secret garden; our eyes were transfixed by delicate flowers, calming colors, ornate details, layers of sensuality and femininity, sparkles beaming off sunlight and cool breezes flowing seamlessly throughout. “I just get inspired by the fabrics,” said Seikaly. Lace dominated the collection with black and taupe confections at varying lengths. 1920’s glamor was another source of inspiration for the designer and the dresses reflected that aesthetic, with flowing fabrics that effortlessly draped, plunging transparent lines embedded with jewels, and glamorous pleated finishes. Although the designer drew inspiration from a bygone era, the collection was far from costumey and appeared fresh and current. The designer also utilized velvet in a short jacket and dress, sculpted the form to perfection. Having worked for fashion heavyweights like Karl Largerfeld and Christian Lacroix, Seikaly’s collection showcases her experience with these great couturiers and signals the start of something new and exciting. ~Adam London
