Last week we found ourselves experiencing a bit of the Amalfi Coast on Fifth Avenue. Tuccia di Capri, the original handmade sandal of Capri, set up shop at Henri Bendel. Skilled cobblers were on site to mold a fresh custom summer pair to the wearer’s specifications in 30 minutes. When we arrived at the shop-in-shop we were overwhelmed by the selection. With 30 styles and 15 color options to choose from, it’s a shoe lovers dream.

We picked a pair of nude crystallized flats and were immediately measured. Cobblers then hammered, stitched, wove and tightened as we explored our favorite store, and our fresh pair was complete in no time. We first discovered Tuccia di Capri on a stroll down Lincoln Road in Miami and have been itching to go back ever since, so we were thrilled to hear they would be holding court at Henri Bendel through Labor Day. Priced $135 for a classic leather sandal to $368 for a more elaborate wedge, it’s an experience worth having. We’re walking on style sunshine…in Jackie O’s shoes!

A cobbler finishes our fab new pair!
