Sophia Coppola’s Virgin Suicides inspired Mulberry’s dreamy SS 2010 collection which was filled to the brim with their fashionable take on “schoolgirl crushes and fairground iconography.” Vivid prints like “Crazy Horse Heads,” “Carousel Horses,” “Dreamy Day,” and “Fuzzy Floral” contrasted with softer neutrals in nude, butter, and mushroom love. Layering was in full effect with tomboy flavored boyfriend blazers and must-have puff sleeve jackets worn over feminine frocks and Betty Bow shorts. Balancing the sugar sweet with the iconic Mulberry edge, accessories were outfitted in oversized hardware, untamed animal prints, and street chic graffiti. Sitting front row at the show was the lovely Alexa Chung; she embodies the Mulberry girl so much that the line decided to name a SS 2010 handbag, an up-to-date twist on their Bayswater classic, after the style star. A true fashion compliment in our book. ~ Maria Denardo
