Miuccia Prada Lent Her Design Talent to The Great Gatsby!
By Bianca Posterli August 22,2012
Though Great Gatsby fans have to wait a little bit longer than anticipated before the Baz Luhrmann film hits theaters, this bit of fashion news is sure to make the extra wait that much more exciting.
As it turns out, Miuccia Prada lent her fashion design skills to the movie in order to outfit the talented and beautiful Carey Mulligan! (Side note: Carey wore Prada for her real-life nuptials earlier in the year when she married Marcus Mumford!) Costume designer Catherine Martin hand-selected 40 dresses from the Prada and Miu Miu archives, then worked directly with Prada to spin the looks into perfect ’20s inspired pieces, bringing the beautiful designs to life on film. In order to round out the looks, Martin worked with Tiffany & Co. on the jewelry and Brooks Brothers for the men’s wardrobe. Now that all the outfit details are in place, we’re just anxiously awaiting the release in Summer 2013!
