#NYFW Spring 2013: Herve Leger

Herve Leger’s Spring 2013 collection featured neutral tones of crisp white, nutmeg and greys entwined with shocking flashes of steel blue, intricate chains, and accents of leather. Depicting a story of the “sultry South,” the strong, signature looks of Max and Lubov Azria were inspired by quilt-making techniques from the women in Gee’s Bend, Alabama.

The supple black and camel leather harnesses, which adorned several looks, contoured the female form. And as the ladies stomped down the runway to the sounds of a revving motorcycle, the gendered dichotomy reached its peak.

The “playsuits” seemed far too beautifully crafted, intricate and detailed (need we mention the potential tan lines?) to actually wear swimming — so we’re still working on a fabulous location to don one of these!

And finally, the surprise: the amazing alabaster and nude bandage pant, a novelty amongst the line’s signature range of dresses, skirts and playsuits.
