#NYFW Spring 2013: Daisy Fuentes’ Andalusian Gypsy
By Bianca Posterli September 14,2012
Drawing on inspiration from a summer spent in the south of Spain, Daisy Fuentes debuted her Spring/Summer 2013 collection for Kohl’s during Fashion Week, touching on her idea of the modern gypsy. With earth-toned swimsuits and bold hues, Fuentes highlighted many of the season’s most popular trends — from lace to peplums to bralettes to the ever-present slit thanks to Angelina Jolie’s red carpet moment. Lace touches paired with fringe detailing, while a wealth of prints balanced her attraction to Andalusia, which she describes as the meeting point of two worlds – cosmopolitan and provincial. With artistic aesthetic from Pablo Picasso and Diego Velázquez as well as Carmen, Fuentes showcased a collection that was wearable for every girl — from the 20-something heading to a long weekend brunch with her friends to the 30-something escaping to a remote island with her significant other for the weekend.
