It’s a new era for Balenciaga!

After mulitple reports, Alexander Wang has officially been named the new creative director for Balenciaga, succeeding Nicholas Ghesquière. “I am deeply honored to embark on this new role for a brand and house that I have such great admiration and respect for”, said Wang. In his new role, Wang will design for both the women’s and men’s RTW and accessories collections, along with managing the image of the brand. “Alexander Wang will use his creativity and his own research to reinterpret and immortalize the distinctive, modern and extremely innovative style imposed by Cristóbal Balenciaga,” said François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO of PPR.

With Paris Fashion Week quickly approaching, Wang will begin to work on the fall-winter 2013 women’s collection, but the presentation format has yet to be decided given the short notice.
