Prabal Gurung Channels ‘Romeo and Juliet’ for Pre-Fall 2013

Prabal Gurung created a mashup of memories, movies, and fashion mavens in the form of his Pre-Fall 2013 collection. In the video below, the designer talks about what sparks his creativity and what the biggest proponents were for his latest collection for a new program by American Express called #AmexInspires. In it, Gurung notes anything that stirs his emotions inspires him, but this time around, he drew the colors from a recent trip to Nepal where he found a copy of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, which reminded him of his time in India where he had found old Versace catalogs – all while keeping the women who wear his clothes in mind. “There’s no bigger high for me than for me to see a girl, who I don’t even know, on the street wearing a piece of my clothing,” he said. “For me, that’s the common factor: the girl and the emotion, so inspiration comes from everywhere.”
