Jason Wu Takes Over Oscar de la Renta’s Old Show Venue
By Bianca Posterli January 16,2013
For years, Oscar de la Renta invited fashion insiders uptown to 583 Park Avenue for his memorable runway shows, but with the arrival of Fall 2011 came a new venue for his collections – his showroom on 42nd Street. Now it seems a new designer is taking over the space – none other than Jason Wu! In previous seasons, Wu chose to show at the St Regis Hotel and a space on the West Side Highway, but with Fall 2013, it’s all about bigger and better. Between the opulence of the venue and the breathtakingly stunning creations that Wu sends down the runway with each collection, this season is set to be his best yet. People have referred to Wu as a Baby Oscar, and though he already carved out his own path, with a First Lady fashion credit under his belt and a gown on display in the Smithsonian – the move into 583 Park shows a clear appreciation for the classic.
