Michelle Obama Wears Jason Wu to the 2013 Inaugural Balls

Michelle Obama‘s wardrobe choices were among the most anticipated and buzzed about parts of the 2013 Inauguration. Before the First Lady stepped onto the stage at the Commander-In-Chief’s Ball, the fashion world was busy making it’s predictions. Though over 12 designers submitted original creations for her to wear, FLOTUS stepped onto the stage in a stunning red gown by none other than Jason Wu. Sure it would have been nice to give someone else a chance, but when you find something that works for your body and makes you feel good, why deviate? And we love Mrs. O a whole lot more for favoring a designer we have adored from the start. Consider Wu this administration’s answer to Oleg and Oscar.

“She makes me a better man and a better president,” said President Obama as he introduced his wife; she is also his perfect complement. Her ruby colored chiffon and velvet gown looked divine next to his white tie and tails. The color also sent the ideal bi-partisan message of hope and optimism. Michelle accessorized with a custom diamond ring designed by Kimberly McDonald and Jimmy Choo shoes. Her entire Inaugural ensemble will be donated to The Smithsonian.

Wu responded to the FLOTUS’ choice with a simple Tweet reading, “#InShock”; we’re not!
