Michelle Obama’s Inauguration Day Outfit: Thom Browne!
By Bianca Posterli January 21,2013
Inauguration Day has finally arrived and as the President of the United States officially begins his second term in office, his wife Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia stand supportively and stylishly by his side. As the First Family made their way to the St. John’s Episcopal Church for a service, as is tradition on Inauguration Day, the FLOTUS showed off a custom made Thom Browne coat and dress described as a silk jacquard jacket based on a necktie fabric, while Malia wore a J. Crew outfit, and Sasha opted for a Kate Spade coat and dress. Unsurprisingly given her history of dressing, the First Lady also wore a belt and shoes are from J. Crew. Rounding out her outfit for church serves was a cardigan designed by Reed Krakoff and a necklace was by Cathy Waterman. Eric Wilson of the New York Times interviewed Browne immediately after the family made their apperance, and the designer said, “It’s one of those moments when I just can’t believe that happened.” UPDATE: For the oath and Inaugural Address, the First Lady added an embellished J.Crew belt and deep purple gloves, while Malia changed into boots.
