Goodness Gracious, Great Blocks of Color
By Katherine Fotinos January 29,2013
If you’re looking for a look that’s bold and beautiful, get acquainted with color blocking by donning brightly hued (neons, pastels, primary colors!), geometric pattered pieces this season. It’s one of those statement styles that, when worn correctly, proves instantly unique yet classically timeless all at once. In other words, color blocking seems to always be getting some sort of upgrade, but on a surface level, the look never gets old. This time around, it’s the shapes and silhouettes that got angular along with the prints they boast. Like Paul Smith exemplified on the Spring 2013 runway, colors, patterns and even textures don’t need to necessarily match when you’re working the block business. However, as color blocking is not stereotypically the most flattering of fashion, keep the flow chic by making sure top and bottom pieces and accessories form a flattering form on your body. For example, if you choose a boxy, sharply angled top, try fitted trousers and sky high heels for a slimming effect. 1.
