Alexander Wang Taps Into Tech with Samsung
By Valis Vicenty January 30,2013
The designer is recruiting a group of influencers, including stylists, photographers, and friends to submit sketches and photos that will become the base of a print for a limited edition bag. The catch? All of the imagery will be created with the help of the tech conglomerate’s Galaxy Note II. Proceeds from the bag will benefit ArtStart, a non-profit that nurtures the creative talents of at-risk youth in New York City. Wang noted that he draws inspiration from those he is surrounded by in his everyday life, so working with them on a project was the perfect fit. “The idea of co-creation with the people that I admire and respect the most is very exciting,” Wang told Women’s Wear Daily. “This collaboration represents a new way that technology and style can some together. And, through a concerted effort, I am happy to be a part if supporting such a great charity as ArtStart that embraces creativity and art in a way that can change lives.” The bag will be available at select Alexander Wang boutiques and AlexanderWang.com this summer.
