Marchesa Couture Goes Contemporary

Nothing gets us more excited than when couture goes contemporary with the launch of a more inexpensively priced collection. Our newest affordable obsession comes from Marchesa, the name behind Blake Lively’s wedding dress. The offshoot line, set to launch in late 2013, will be called Marchesa Voyage, and will retail at $150 to $750, reports Vogue UK. Expect classic daily wear pieces for the fashion forward lady such as shift dresses, silk tops, collarless jackets and tailored scarf print pants, with the typical Marchesa spin of dazzling embroidery, gems, and fur detailing. Georgina Chapman, who along with Keren Craig, is the designer behind the name, descibes the collection, “It’s going to be under the Marchesa umbrella, but with a slightly different feel. We have been so specific for such a long time, and the idea to broaden out to a different consumer, and to our same consumer as well. We haven’t really looked at that market yet. My dream is to give Marchesa many facets, and that’s just one of them.”
